Page 119 of Luna: Posy 2

Cole

Mase took Posy over to Papa, not because he wanted to, but because he knew Papa would be angry if he didn't greet him and introduce our mate to him first.

The rest of us ran over to greet Dad, although I kept my eye on the trio by the porch steps. Papa and Mase's relationship was rocky at best and nuclear at worst.

It's all Papa's fault,Topaz grouched. He hurts Mase so often and over nothing.

I know, Paz. I just hope Posy doesn't get caught in the crossfire.

Don't let that happen, Cole, Topaz growled with a rough burr.

Assuring him I wouldn't, I half-listened as the three musketeers chatted with Dad, who was all ears to hear about Posy as well as what happened at Tall Pines.

Three musketeers, I smirked to myself.

Posy had called Ash, Wyatt, and Jay that the other day, and it had stuck with Mase and me. When I asked her why, she said it was because they were so close in age and were usually together.

And it was true. We were all very close, but those three went out of their way to be physically near each other. Jay and Ash had grown up together after Jay's parents adopted Ash at age two, and Wyatt fell in with the two of them as soon as they started school.

"Mom and Mama are going to want to meet her ASAP. You know that, right?" Dad said with a huge grin. "They'll want to help her plan her luna ceremony."

"How about a picnic tomorrow afternoon?" Ash suggested. "Bring Peri and the horde and get it all over with at once."

"That might overwhelm our girl," Jay disagreed. "Let's ask her first."

"Well, Per's birthday is Wednesday, so if nothing else, she can meet the family at the party," Dad pointed out.

"That would be better," Jay said. "Don't you think, Cole?"

Hearing my name drew my full attention to their conversation and my eyes away from Mase and Papa - which turned out to be very bad timing.

"KNEEL BEFORE YOUR LUNA."

A mighty blast of alpha power hit us and we all - even Dad - fell to our knees and bent our backs under the immense weight of Mase's fury.

Goddess, that boy is powerful, I grunted, my nose inches from the grass.

Mase mad, Topaz fretted and paced in my mind.Garnet mad, too.

I know, Paz. Papa did something dumb, and fifty bucks say he insulted Posy.

No bet, boss. No bet.

24: Show Down with Papa

Mason

I have a beast inside me that I keep under lock and key twenty-four seven, and it isnotmy wolf.

Garnet is nothing to manage in comparison to the rage that bubbles and stews in my gut like a toxic sludge.

Except for Posy, everyone around me was on their knees, and I couldn't bring myself to care that I was being unfair to Dad and my brothers.

All I could focus on was the miserable, cruel bastard crouched at my feet.

"I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!"I roared.

Grabbing my father by his throat, I dragged him to his feet and squeezed hard enough to make him choke as he pried at my hand.
