"Should we bring the pack members back from the motel?" Wyatt asked.
"As soon as I deem it secure here. Once I do, you can link your gammas to load up the prisoners you have at Five Fangs and send them back, too." The king thought for a second, then looked back at Cole.
"When you're done eating, take some dinner over to Jay and let him know I'll relieve him in an hour. Angelo, you relieve me at dawn. We'll figure out the rest of the rota tomorrow."
"And just what am I supposed to do until dawn?" Angelo frowned.
"I don't know. Clean your guns or something."
"You can help me with the food list," Sara decided. "You'll be doing most of the cooking, anyway."
"You cook?" My ears perked up.
"Yeah. Why?" He narrowed his eyes at me. "Is there something wrong with that?"
"No, not at all, my dude. I'm just happy someone can really cook over the next couple of days. I'm horrible at it, and Wyatt's worse than horrible. Jay and Cole make basic stuff like sandwiches, which is okay, but gets boring fast. Only Mase and Posy can do real meals, and our girl isn't here."
"I see."
"Gelo does almost all the cooking when he's home," Maria chimed in. "When he's not, Sara and Beatrix do basic meals. Ariel and I are barred from the kitchen."
"Wyatt and Ash should be," Mase muttered.
Wyatt and I laughed with everyone else. We sucked and we knew it.
"Gelo mainly cooks Italian," Ariel told us, "because that's what we grew up with. If you have other requests, speak up now."
"Where should I start?" I rubbed my hands together with a grin and earned another round of laughter.
Let them laugh,Sid giggled. We going to be eating good, Ashy!
You know it, buddy.
15: And a Longer Night
Cole
Bedtime that night did not go well.
Wyatt was upset about Reuben, Ash and Mase were both dead on their feet, and Ariel had assigned us two rooms, not understanding what we meant when we said we shared. Even though we took over the bigger of the two, this room only had a queen-sized bed.
As soon as he saw that, Ash began to whine, which was unusual enough to make the rest of us stop and stare at him.
"What's wrong, Ash?" I asked.
"I don't like it. I want to sleep with my brothers."
"Jay, let's go get the mattress from the other room and drag it in here," Mase said. "Some of us can sleep on the bed and some can sleep on the floor."
"No!" Ash shouted, surprising us. "Want to be together!"
I moved closer to see his eyes.
Uh-oh, I linked the others.Sid's in charge. Ash conked out somewhere between the dining room and here.
Obviously,Jay snickered, and notsurprising since he only had four hours of sleep last night.
I'll take Sid and Wy in the bed with me, I offered,if you two don't mind the mattress on the floor?
