"Tyler's wolf got angry about something someone said," I told her. “Then Emerson’s wolf found out and lost his temper, too.”
"River and Cove? Should I go—"
"No, baby." I took her trembling hands in mine. "The other betas and Angelo have it under control. Don't worry. Tyler and Emerson would feel terrible if they knew they upset you on your special day."
"I don't want them to feel bad, but I'm worried about them." She bit her bottom lip.
I raised our joined hands and nudged her lip out of her teeth with my knuckles.
"No more worrying." I smiled. "I know nurturing others is your nature, and being luna will magnify that, but not today, sweetness. Today, focus on yourself and us. We're being selfish today, okay?"
She stared at me in silence for a second, then smiled, showing her pearly teeth. I bent down and kissed her cheek, and she took the opportunity to cup her hand around my ear.
"How much longer until we can go home?" she whispered.
Pulling back, I looked at her carefully. She'd been holding up so well, but now I could see she was exhausted. Whether from stress or nerves, she needed a rest and cuddling.
"Soon, baby." I dropped a kiss on the tip of her nose and rubbed one hand up and down her back.
She nodded and laid her head on my shoulder with a soft sigh.
This sort of thing is inhumane,Quartz grumbled. It's wearing on our mate, and I'm bored to tears.
Unlike us, at least you can take a nap, I retorted. We'rethe ones stuck shaking hands and smiling and being sociable.
Good thing, too.His eyes glimmered for a second before he closed them and rolled over with a huff.I'd have eaten half of these people by now.

Our girl was drooping.
We all were, really. Only Mase looked as sharp as he had this morning. Cole had shed his suit coat, vest, and tie. Jay and I had ditched our coats and loosened our ties, but we stuck with the vests, mainly because Posy thought they were sexy. As for Wyatt, who hadn't bothered with a vest or tie to begin with, he'd stripped out of his coat almost immediately after the ceremony. By the time we were done eating and mingling with pack members, he had the sleeves of his dress shirt rolled up to his elbows and the top three buttons undone - two more than he'd started with.
Ashy, Wy going to lose that shirt in a minute, Sid giggled.
You may be right, buddy.
At long last, Mom and Mama realized how exhausted Posy was and agreed that I could take her home.
While my brothers stayed to chat with a few people, I led her from the community hall and out to my SUV and got her home before she could fall asleep. While I carefully hung her gown up, she changed into one of Mase's t-shirts, then we propped ourselves up against the headboard with all of Wyatt's pillows.
"I want to see my brothers again before they go home," she slurred, not quite awake anymore.
"Okay. We'll go see them tomorrow sometime."
" 'Morrow? They're staying?"
"Yeah. At the twins' house."
"With their mates," she giggled sleepily. "Love you, waffle."
"I love you, too, cupcake."
Getting her tucked in under the covers, I kissed her forehead and watched her nod off before falling into the darkness myself.
