Crap.

Not me, little one,Al answered, giving me a smirk.

Don't encourage his anger. We can't afford for him to come out right now,I scolded Al, then linked back with River and Tyler.I did, but I'm here to apologize and make it right.

No scare luna again,River said, still with that calm voice.

Double crap.

I won't,I promised.

Better not!River taunted in a sing-song,andTyler's eyes flared with golden wolf light.

Shit.

The alphas have picked on her panic and are demanding to know what's wrong,Tyler linked me.I told them she's fine and to give me five minutes before I explain. That's how long you have to fix this. Don't waste it.

I gave him a brief nod.

"Luna Posy, I'd like a moment of your time, please." I kept my voice as quiet and gentle as I could. "I want to apologize and try to earn your forgiveness."

She peeked around Tyler, but her pretty blue eyes wouldn't lift above my chin and her fingers clenched tighter in his shirt.

Approaching her slowly, I raised my hand holding the bouquet of flowers.

"A small token of my regret. I am truly sorry for the cruel things I said about you." I laid the flowers on the counter when she made no move to take them. "I knew the moment you kicked me out of the home office that you were not what I thought you were. I'd already planned to apologize before last night, so please don't think I'm only here because I saw your scars."

I waited for some reaction, but not very hopeful that I'd get one.

"She says she accepts your apology and forgives you for your cruel words," Tyler said. His eyes still glittered with River's presence, and his face was set in a fierce scowl. "I expect better from you in the future, sir. She deserves to be treated with respect as both your luna and your daughter-in-law."

"I know. I will do better," I vowed. "Luna, I hope you will allow me to get to know you. I am excited to have a daughter-in-law, especially one who is not only lovely and kind, but also brave and strong."

She blushed heavily, and her eyes flicked to mine for a second.

"Mason," she murmured, and we both knew she didn't need to say anything else for me to understand what she was asking.

"I know I was wrong. So wrong. It took my wife reminding me that Mase isn't - and never was - anything like me before I understood just how stupid I've been. I'll apologize to him when he's ready to talk to me again, and I'm willing to work hard to earn his forgiveness and a place in his life, no matter how small."

Her eyes flitted to mine again, and I knew she recognized my sincerity when she nodded. Her fingers slowly knotted from Tyler's t-shirt and she patted him on the arm. He released his hold on her and stood at ease.

They move well together,Al commented.

I nodded in agreement. A stranger would think they'd known each other for years.

"I believe in second chances," she said softly, "but that's all you get.Onechance. Don't screw it up."

"More than fair," I replied. "Thank you, luna."

She came close enough to pick up the bouquet.

"Thank you for the flowers." She buried her nose in them and inhaled. "They're beautiful. And call me Posy."

"Do you want to join us?" Ty asked me as she began to hunt for a vase. "We were about to learn a new game together."

Is that a good idea?I linked him.

You want to get to know her, right?
