"I have tolerated your verbal abuse for years!" I shook him a little. "But for you to disrespect and deny our Goddess-given mate? That I willnevertolerate!"

"Mase—" he gasped.

"I no longer recognize you as my father."

"Ma—"

"If you disrespect your luna or any of your alphas -including me- again, I will punish you as I would any other wolf under my leadership! Speaking of leadership, if you think I'm undeserving of the title of alpha," I leaned in so we were nose to nose, "challenge me for it."

"Mason—"

Keep pushing us, Papa,Garnet murmured in my mind.Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to put you in your place good and proper.

"AlphaMason!" I snarled, Garnet's snarky comments fueling the rage. "Let me make it undeniably clear to you, Mr. Price. You are not welcome in my life. If you want to talk to me outside of official functions, make an appointment with my office and then only to discuss pack business."

I dropped him to his feet and almost -almost!- stepped back, but the rage still burned like a bonfire inside me.

"And one more thing.Nevercall our mate a whore again."

Drawing back one huge fist, I knocked him out cold, then stared down at his crumpled body.

Serves him right, Garnet smirked.

And felt damn good, I replied with a satisfied grunt.

After Mason finished yelling at his father, he punched him, and Mr. Price fell to the grass without a sound.

I folded my hands over my nose and mouth and stared at my mate's back with huge eyes. Little tremors shook my body, and I fought to keep my breathing even and normal.

"Posy," he said without turning around. "Are you okay?"

"Yes," I whispered.

"I'm sorry I scared you."

"I'm not scared of you," I hedged.

I couldn't lie to him; Iwasscared. Violence and aggression would probably always scare me, but I wasn't scared of my mate.

He probably thinks I am, though,I worried. He still hasn't looked at me.

"Listen, I'm going for a run to burn off some of the anger. Don't worry about me. I'm fine and I'll be back."

He ripped off his shirt and stepped out of his shoes.

“Wait!" I called out and raised my hand, but stopped myself from touching him. "Can someone go with you?"

He paused and looked at me over his shoulder, then made eye contact with someone behind me.

"Quartz feel up to it?" he rumbled.

"After being cooped in a vehicle for five hours? You know he is." Jayden sounded like he was grinning.

Seconds later, two piles of clothes were left behind as Garnet and Quartz took off into the woods at breakneck speed.
