"Could you put one salad bowl at either end of the table? And what about drinks? Should I pour them out here and bring them in?"
"Uh, yeah, I guess. We usually just drink straight from the bottles, but we can be classy tonight." He grinned, then pecked my cheek before leaving with the salads and dressing bottles.
I followed him back into the dining room.
"What does everyone want to drink?" I asked, twisting my fingers as all eyes landed on me.
Almost everyone wanted water, except Ash and Ranger requested sweet tea and Luke wanted to know if we had any apple juice.
That one made me raise my eyebrows. Who drank apple juice with lasagna? Or for dinner?
"He loves apple juice," Lilah said with a laugh.
"I'll bear that in mind." Gisela looked up at her mate, then over at me. "I'll come help you, Posy."
"No, you stay here so you can get to know my sister." Luke put a hand on her shoulder, holding her in her chair. "I'llhelp."
So it was Luke who went with me back to the kitchen and fixed the drinks. Good thing, too. The tray was pretty heavy once we had eleven full glasses on it.
"I've got it, luna," he said and picked it up like it weighed nothing.
Finally, we were all seated around the table and digging in. Jayden sat on my one side and Mason on the other, and I watched to see if everyone liked what I'd made before I took a bite.
"This is amazing, Posy!" Jayden held up a big forkful. "I haven't had lasagna this good in a long time."
"Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Italian, but this is great." Cole smiled at me from across the table.
"That’s because you think Italian meansonlyspaghetti and lasagna," Jayden retorted.
That made the others laugh before they also offered their compliments, which made my cheeks turn pink. I noticed only Mason, Jayden, Lilah, and I took any of the salad - and Mason and Jayden took such a small amount, it looked like garnish next to their slabs of lasagna.
Carnivores, Lark giggled.
"You're not going to eat any veggies?" I gave Wyatt, Ash, and Cole innocent looks.
"No!" Wyatt scowled. "I don't like them, and you can't make me eat them."
"Oh, really?" I raised an eyebrow and kept my face straight.
"Really."
"I brought out all the dressings because I figured you each had your own favorites." I tilted my head and widened my eyes. "Why else do you have so many different ones and the veggies if you don't eat salads?"
"Mom and Mama stock the fridge every week," Ash explained. "That's why we have it. We usually end up throwingthatstuff away or giving it to someone."
"We don't eatsalads." Cole actually shuddered a little at the thought.
Suddenly, that little imp of mischief inside me stirred again.
"But it's healthy for you. Don't you want to be healthy?" I pooched out my bottom lip. "And I went to the trouble to make it for you and everything."
I looked at Cole with big eyes, then did the same to Wyatt and Ash.
"Pass us the freaking salad," Ash groaned and banged his head on the table.
Everyone else burst out laughing.
"I'm kidding, Ash." I giggled. "Eat whatever you like."
