Page 64 of Mates: Posy

After agreeing that I would think it over, we left the conversation there and went back to talking about ring designs. Wyatt was determined to get me a huge diamond set in platinum, but I flat-out refused.

"Something simple," I begged him. "Something small."

"I want you to have something elegant," he insisted.

"Simple can be elegant," Peri told him, "and a big, gaudy ring doesn't suit Posy anyway."

"You know, I have an idea for your mates’ rings." Lilah tilted her head to the side and her eyes were far away and thoughtful.

"Shh! Don't tell the guys!" Peri hissed. "It should be a surprise!"

"But they should have a say in what I—"

"No, little flower," Mason interrupted me. "Whatever you create, we will wear with pride."

"Even if it is awful," Wyatt added with a straight face.

Cole chucked a throw pillow at him. He caught it and winged it right back.

"Posy, it’s time for the lights to come on!" Ash shouted and jumped to his feet.

Lilah and I both flinched hard. Each of us instinctively grabbed one of Peri’s arms, and the excitement in his eyes faded a bit.

"Sorry," he muttered and rubbed the back of his neck.

"It’s—" I took a shaky breath. "It’s okay. I’ve been looking forward to this so much!"

He came closer and held out his hands. He waited patiently until my panic subsided and I was able to let him pull me to my feet. He hung on to one of my hands as he led us all to my room.

"It’s very plain right now," Wyatt told Peri, Lilah and Luke. "Just the basics until Posy decides how she wants to decorate it. The balcony garden is the showpiece currently."

I didn’t understand why he saw the simplicity of the room as a negative.

He want to shower you with everything you miss out on last few years,Lark whispered. He want to spoil you rotten.

I dropped Ash’s hand and went to Wyatt. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I snuggled my face into his chest. His hands linked behind my back and he smiled, which made me smile.

"Wyatt, I love my room. Thank you so much for my own special space."

"Anything for you, Posy," he murmured into my hair.

"Okay, okay, you can cuddle each other later."

Peri tugged on my sleeve, and I giggled.

"Get lost, Periwinkle," Wyatt growled.

"It’s only fair, Wyatt," Ash told him. "You interrupted me hugging Posy once and Mase twice today. So suck it up, buttercup, and come on!"

Ash threw open the bedroom door, then trotted over to the French doors.

"Oh, this is the perfect set up for shabby chic or cottage style!" Peri bounced on her toes as she looked around.

"You could also do a beach theme." Lilah eyed the room with interest.

"That’s true!"

As my two new friends debated the pros and cons of different decors, the guys herded us out onto the balcony, which was still dark.
