Page 95 of Mates: Posy

"I know, baby. I know. Onyx says seven were broken. You must have been in agony."

Julian dropped a feather-soft kiss on my cheek.

Finally it was over, and I blew out a heavy breath. Straightening, I opened my eyes and smiled up at him.

"Thank you, and you, too, Onyx. This is the first time in months I haven't been in crippling pain."

Onyx snarled as Julian's face darkened.

"Ash said Alpha Leo Halder was hurting you," Julian growled. "Did he doallthis damage?"

"Well, the bites were from the attack this afternoon."

"But the rest?"

Biting my lip, I nodded.

"And did he ever touch you in an inappropriate way?"

I didn't want to tell him, but I couldn’t lie to my mate. I was so ashamed that I hadn't been strong enough to fight him. That I'd been maneuvered into such a position.

I dropped my hands and twisted my fingers together.

"Did he?"

I nodded.

He let his hands fall and took a step back, his blue eyes hard and cold.

Oh, no.My lips trembled and tears burned my eyes. Now he's disgusted!

"How far did he go, Lilah?"

I shook my head, and a couple of tears slipped out.

"How far?"

"Luke stopped him before he got my clothes off," I sobbed. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Please don’t hate me!"

"Baby, what do you have to be sorry about? You are the victim here. None of this is your fault. And I could never hate you. I love you already. Yes, I’m angry, but not at you."

His volume rose and his tone deepened. Things began to rattle around us.

"How dare he? How dare he hurt my mate? How dare he touch what’s mine?!"

Nyx will kill him,Onyx promised.Nyx will kill him good and slow.

I realized I needed to calm them both down before something regrettable happened. Julian’s eyes showed how close he was to wolfing out, and I knew - Iknew- Onyx would take off for Tall Pines as soon as he had full control.

I moved closer and took one of his big fists in both of my hands.

"Julian, I understand what you’re feeling, but Alpha Halder will be there tomorrow. And the next day. And the day after that. Right now, I’d like to get to know my mate. And," I smiled up at him, "I’m starving. Can we eat now and plan to kill him later?"

Julian’s green-glinted eyes stared at me, although I could tell he wasn’t seeing me. I was just about to call his beta, Luke, or Posy’s mates for help when my empty stomach came to the rescue again and growled loudly.

Jul! Feed mate!

Onyx’s power-laden bellow knocked a clock off the wall and bounced several throw pillows around on the furniture. I fought back a grin, and Julian closed his eyes as he shook his head. When his eyes opened again, they were back to their normal beautiful blue and a tiny smile flirted with his lips.
