"I'll link my beta and tell him to—"

Mase's eyes clouded over right as the voice from the kitchen bellowed, "LILAH!"

Quartz's familiar, furious roar quickly followed.

"What's going on?" Ranger and I asked at the same time.

"Posy and the girls are in danger." Cole stripped off his shirt and ditched his shoes. "Tall Pines wolves have them surrounded at Roger's Diner."

Rage burned all other emotions away, and I pelted out of the house. I was aware that the others ran with me, four of them as wolves. I recognized Hawk, Topaz and Quartz; the other had to be Luke MacGregor’s wolf.

"It'll be faster on wheels than paws!" Mase called out.

Onyx could reach fifty miles an hour when he went all out, but I couldn't remember where Roger's Diner was exactly, only that it was somewhere off pack territory.

"Ranger!" I yelled and raced to my vehicle. "We're following the alphas!"

Hawk and Luke's wolf piled in with us while the rest jumped into Ash's SUV. In seconds, we were tearing down the driveway, and I was glad Ranger was driving. I had all I could handle keeping Onyx under control and keeping my own fury and panic at bay.

I would have loved to turn him loose on the Tall Pines wolves, but I had to think of my mate. Onyx wouldn't hurt her, but he'd scare her. Plus, once he was in a killing frenzy, he'd be blind to everything but tearing out throats. Someone could harm or take our mate without him noticing.

"Hawk, Luke's wolf, get your queen and the alphas' luna to safety," I commanded in my royal alpha tone. "Ranger, capture at least one of the Tall Pines wolves to interrogate."

Ranger nodded.

Yes, sire,Hawk said through our pack link.Rain says yes, too.

"Good."

As soon as we reached the shopping center, the betas went into protection mode and fanned out around us. It was easy to ignore them for the most part, and we girls cruised through store after store, laughing and teasing each other. Soon, all of our arms were loaded down with bags.

"We're spending too much!" Lilah complained.

"The boys have plenty of money," Peri assured her as the twins giggled. "It won't even make a dent, trust me."

"Wait! This is theirpersonalmoney?" Bright red stained her cheeks and traveled down her neck. "I thought it was pack funds! I can't accept—"

"You can and you will," Callie said. "Like Peri said, the alphas are loaded."

I felt a little guilty for spending money, too, but Ash had said to get some cute hair things, so I did. Then Peri insisted on buying a few items I'd stared at a little too long.

"We just went shopping yesterday, Peri!" I protested.

"Yeah, and it was cut short because my brothers were idiots. We didn't get to half the places I wanted to. Now you just hush and let the boys spoil you a little."

I frowned, but finally decided that, if my mates got angry, they could yell at her.

Right before noon, we began the most important debate: where to go for lunch.

"What about Roger's Diner?" Keeley suggested. "They have the best chicken tenders."

"Oh, and their onion rings are so flaky and delicious!" Callie agreed.

"Plus they have excellent milkshakes," Peri added, which made the decision for us all.
