Page 68 of Mates: Posy

Lark didn’t like that and began to show me memories from the past few days.

We would never reject you or leave you.

You’re stuck with us, sweetness, until we draw our last breath.

Your sweet self is all we want. You are the greatest treasure we could ever hope to have.

We may rule a pack, but you rule our hearts.

You mean the world to us, Posy.

I took a minute to prepare myself for their possible reactions, then told them what had happened on my birthday.

When I was done, Ash leapt to his feet and raced out of the room, and the sound of vomiting soon echoed down the hall. Wyatt angrily swiped at the tears running down his face, and Jayden had his head buried in his hands. Mason wore his usual blank mask, but his icy eyes were murderous. As for Cole…

Pieces of clothing filled the air as he shifted into his wolf with a bone-rattling roar. I lay stone-still on top of Mason. I hadn’t seen any of their wolves before and wasn’t sure what to do.

"Shh. You’re okay. Topaz won’t hurt you." Mason stroked my hair.

"He took control because Cole was losing his temper," Jayden explained. "Trust me, Topaz is better than Cole in a rage."

I nodded, but kept my attention on the silver-eyed wolf as he came closer. I wasn’t scared, not with Mason’s arms around me and Wyatt and Jayden there, but I wasn’t happy, either. It hurt me to know I was upsetting my mates so much.

When he was close enough, Topaz stuck his nose in my neck and snuffed, which surprised me. It tickled and made me giggle and squirm around.

Suddenly, Mason groaned and shifted me off of him and onto the pile of pillows. That confused me, especially when Wyatt and Jayden snickered.

"Was it gettinghardto hold her?" Wyatt asked him.

Mason told him to shut up.

Their bickering faded into the background as Topaz flopped down next to me. He gave me a wolfish grin with his tongue hanging out of one side of his mouth. Wrapping my arms around him, I snuggled into his soft fur with a happy smile.

"Aw!" Ash came back into the room. "Topaz, what a great teddy bear you are for our girl to cuddle!"

Topaz raised his head and stared at Ash, then snorted and laid his chin back on his paws.

"Are you okay now, Posy?" Ash flopped back in his spot next to Topaz.

I nodded.

"Thank you for telling us." Jayden reached over Wyatt and Mason to run his hand down my arm. "I know it wasn’t easy."

I nodded again.

"You’re squishing me," Wyatt complained and shoved Jayden off. "Posy, do you need anything?"

I shook my head.

They worried. You stopped talking, Lark informed me.

I’m a burden to them. They shouldn’t have to deal with my brokenness.

Topaz whined and nudged my cheek with his nose. I rubbed his fuzzy ears with a little smile.

"Ears are my favorite part of a wolf," I told him as his silver eyes stared back at me. "Does it feel good to have them petted?"

He huffed in approval, and I grinned.
