If they weren’t my brothers, I would have killed them for upsetting my mate so badly. But they were, and she was their mate as much as mine.
I was still plenty pissed.
"My office," I barked. "All three of you. Thirty minutes."
Turning to Jay, I saw Quartz was still in control and bit back a curse.
Great. A chaos cherry on top of a disaster sundae.
At least holding Posy was keeping him from becoming homicidal. He had her balled up tight against his chest with his nose buried deep in her neck, right where our mate mark would eventually go.
"Quartz, how about we drop Peri off, then take our girl home?"
Talking to him was a delicate game. If it was anything other than a suggestion stated as a question, he saw it as an order - andnobodyordered Quartz around.
He grunted. I waited a minute to see if he had more of a response, but knew that was probably the best I was going to get.
I took Peri’s elbow, led her out to the SUV, and hoped Quartz would follow. Fortunately, he did. After I unlocked the doors, he crawled into the backseat with his precious bundle, so I offered shotgun to Peri.
"Everything was going so great, Mase." She sniffed as tears ran down her face. "I thought we were becoming friends. Do you think she hates me now?"
"Of course not," I scowled. "She doesn’t know how to hate anyone."
"She’s going to be okay, right?"
"Yeah. Don’t worry. I’ll fix it."
Like we fix everything else,Garnet muttered.

I clasped my hands on top of my desk and stared at my three brothers. My face was blank, my eyes, too, and I didn’t move a muscle. Not even my eyelids flickered.
Over the years, I’d discovered that being quiet and still was an excellent intimidation tactic. It unnerved people, especially when those people knew just how very pissed off you were.
"I’m curious, brothers."
I flexed my two index fingers in a quick movement, and Wyatt and Cole twitched.
Garnet smirked, and I wanted to. I usually didn’t enjoy scaring my brothers straight, but today was an exception.
I was finding out thatanythinginvolving Posy was quickly becoming an exception to all my rules.
"How did you three screw up so badly that our mate now believes we don’t care about her, we’ll cheat on her, and we want to put her wolf back in a coma?"
When Wyatt opened his mouth, I unclasped my hands and held up one index finger.
"Oh, and let me not forget that you upset Periandgot Quartz to come out and play. All in less than twenty minutes."
I shook my head and faked a smile, which made Ash flinch.
"Dang, brothers. I think that might be a new record for you."
"Shut up, Mase," Cole muttered. "I don't know what happened with Ash, but what happened with Wyatt and me was a big misunderstanding all around."
"With me, too," Ash chimed in. "I didn't realize she thought I was ignoring her."
