I’ll close my eyes for a couple of minutes,I promised myself.I don’t want them to think I’m ignoring them. Just a short nap.
Next thing I knew, someone was unbuckling my seatbelt and scooping me up in muscular arms. I jerked awake, frightened, until my nose filled with the glorious scent of roses.
That calmed me right down.
"Shh, little mate," Jayden whispered into my hair. "You’re okay. We’re home. I’m carrying you inside."
"Mr. Nibbles," I mumbled, noticing I didn’t have him in my arms anymore.
"We’ll find him and bring him to you. Go back to sleep."
Taking a deep inhale, I snuggled against him and closed my eyes, knowing I was safe.
6: A New Home
Posy
I woke up on a soft bed with a heavy arm draped across my collar bones, a face smooshed into the back of my neck, and my nose filled with the delicious smell of vanilla.
Strangely enough, I didn’t panic.
It the mate bond,Lark explained. Growing stronger and stronger. Makes you feel safe with them.
The sparks tickled me everywhere our skin touched, reinforcing the truth of what she said.
"Wyatt?" I whispered.
He only huffed quietly and dug his face deeper into my hair.
"Sorry, cupcake," Ash chuckled. "He’s not a morning person."
I looked up and saw him standing at the end of the bed with Jayden, both wearing big grins.
"Might as well get used to his cuddles, too," Jayden told me. "His and Cole’s. They’re both snugglers at night. Sometimes we put them together to give the rest of us a break."
"Or sic them on me." Ash gave him a sour look.
"Dude. You sleep like the dead. You don’t even know they’re there."
"Why are you talking so much?" Wyatt muttered. "Go away."
"Nope. Sorry. It’s get-up o’clock." Cole came into my line of view with Mason looming behind him. "Untangle yourself from our girl. Breakfast is almost ready."
"Bacon?" Wyatt sat up and rubbed his eyes with his knuckles.
"Of course, you carnivorous pup," Cole said.
"Hey, I’m not the pup anymore," Wyatt yawned. "Posy’s two whole months younger than me."
He leaned down and kissed my forehead, then half-fell, half-rolled out of bed and landed on the floor with a thump.
"Whatever you say,pup," Cole smirked.
Jayden and Ash snickered, and Wyatt flipped them off as he got to his feet, then headed for the bathroom.
"It takes him a while to wake up and become his usual, charming self," Cole explained.
"Well, the two of you hogged our mate all night. It’s someone else’s turn tonight," Ash griped.
