Page 21 of Mates: Posy

"I know it’s hard, little flower," he murmured, "but try to trust us. We won’t hurt you. Not ever, and certainly not for asking questions."

Encouraged, I nodded and decided to go for it.

"Why do you each have a special smell? Is that part of the mate bond?"

"Yes," they chorused.

"What—"

I paused. I wanted to know, but what if they got impatient with me? Taking a deep breath, I did what Mason asked and trusted them.

"What do I smell like to you?"

"Cookies."

"Chocolate chip."

"Fresh out of the oven."

"Makes me want to go down on you and eat you all up." Wyatt leaned closer with a wolfy grin and mischief sparkled in his eyes.

"Godownon me?" My eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.

"Wyatt!" Cole snapped. "Quit being crude!"

"You smell very appealing, Posy." Jayden flicked his amazing eyes to mine in the rearview mirror. "Don’t worry about Wyatt’s nonsense."

"Why do I smell the same to all of you," I asked, "when each of you smells differently to me?"

"Because you’reourmate. What’s my scent?" Wyatt squeezed my hand gently.

"Vanilla."

"What about me?" Ash turned around to meet my eyes.

"Maple syrup."

"Must be because I’m so sweet, just like you, cupcake." He grinned in a way that made my heart stutter.

"With a line like that, you should smell like cheese," Wyatt snickered.

Ash scowled at him while the others, even Mason, chuckled.

"What about me?" Cole asked.

"Pine." So he wouldn’t have to ask, I added, "And Mason smells like a campfire."

"And me?" Jayden glanced back at me again.

"Roses."

"Aw, Jay’s a flower!" Wyatt teased. "Must be your feminine side coming out."

"Um," I tried to intervene before a fight started.

"You have a lot of lip for a candle fragrance, jerk-off," Jayden shot back.

"That’s—"
