I frowned. I’d never talked through Posy’s mouth before, and I had to concentrate hard. It didn’t help that I could hear their wolves. They were yipping with excitement because I was awake again, but I had five humans wanting answers at the same time.
"Posy no want to tell, but I had get wolfsbane out," I explained. "It took long time."
"Wolfsbane?!" they all shouted.
"Why did you have wolfsbane in your system, little wolf?" Wyatt asked.
"Alpha gave it when I protect Posy." Tears gathered in my eyes. "Posy hurt all the time. I no can do anything."
Their wolves suddenly stopped their happy barking and howled. It made my head hurt. I whimpered, and they stopped right away. Their howling woke Posy up, though. She listened in the back of my mind, but didn’t ask to take control.
"She’s gone through so much." Mason was talking quietly to my other mates, but I could hear him. "We’re going to have to be very careful with her."
I closed my eyes to hide my grief. Their wolves sensed it, of course, and begged me to tell them what was wrong.
"We understand. We know we too broken to be luna," I whispered. "Why you no reject us when she ask? It hurt more now you make us believe you keep us."
They all went silent, both men and wolves. Then I felt feather-light touches skimming my arms, my legs, and my face, leaving trails of sparks. My eyes flew open to see my mates hovering over me with pain and worry etched on their faces.
"Oh, we’re keeping you, little wolf." Wyatt leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "If you can’t believe anything else, believe that."
"And you’re not broken, precious. You’re a survivor." Mason frowned, his brows drawing together.
"We said we’d never reject you and we meant it." Cole picked up my left hand and stroked his thumb over the back of it.
"We’ll make you believe it." Ash grabbed my other hand and brought it to his lips to kiss my knuckles. "We love you and want you in our lives."
"That’s right," Jayden said. "We’re going to take very good care of you."
I looked at each one of them, studying their faces and meeting their eyes. Posy and I talked for a moment, then agreed we’d believe them until they gave us a reason not to.
I hope they knows how much courage it take to trust them,I told her nervously, not realizing the mate bond would carry my thoughts and words to my wolves.
We do, sweetheart. You’re so brave, and we’re so proud of you.
It was one of my wolf mates, but I'd forgotten which wolf went with which human.
"Can you say names again, please? I no want to offend you or wolves by making mistake."
I was as polite as possible. Alphas were touchy, and I was still too weak to defend us if I angered them. They didn’t look angry, though.
Maybe they won’t hurt us,Posy said with hope in her voice.
Neither as man nor wolf will we hurt you, vowed the same wolf. And if anyone else ever does, we will kill them.
I sent him a smile of gratitude, then turned my attention to Wyatt as he spoke.
"Sorry. The mate bond is new to us as well. And don’t worry about offending anyone. There is nothing you could do to offend us, okay?"
Then they went around and made sure I knew which wolf was whose: Cole with Topaz, Jayden with Quartz, Ash with Obsidian, Wyatt with Granite, and Mason with Garnet, the one who’d just talked to me.
"Now tell us about you," Ash said.
"Oh. Well, we just turn eighteen." I paused. Human tongues and mouths were annoying! "I like run in woods, but I no allowed outside for really long time."
All of the wolves growled, and I felt their fury. I didn’t think it was directed at me, but a shiver of fear went down my spine.
No, dearest. We’re angry at the one who abused you,Topaz explained.
