After the alphas recounted the story, Julian began asking questions.
"Posy, did you or Lark see anything that your mates didn't?"
He made his voice very soft as he talked to her, and I sent him my love and thanks for that through our bond. She was still so fragile, both physically and emotionally, and I appreciated his care for my friend.
He sent me back a wave of love, and my heart fluttered with happiness.
"No, your majesty. They made us hide under River."
She played with Alpha Wyatt's rings, spinning the one on his thumb, and that reminded me I still needed to tell her my idea for the mate rings they'd asked her to design.
"River? Beta Tyler's wolf?"
"Yes, your majesty. Then, he, Cove, and Bay took us over to a field and we chased butterflies. I figured it was to distract Lark, and I wasn't too keen on seeing the aftermath of the fighting, so I sank back into my mind and let her have fun."
"You should have seen Lark trying to pounce on them. She was super-super cute!" Alpha Ash squealed.
He jogged his legs rapidly, making Posy bounce around on his knees. She must not have liked that because she stood quickly, dislodging all her other mates. Alphas Jayden and Wyatt leaped up next to her.
"You tool! What's wrong with you?"
"You scared Posy!"
"Think before you act."
And Alpha Cole whacked the poor guy on the back of his head.
"Owie!"
"Guys, I'm fine." Posy held up both hands. "It just startled me."
Four of them had irritated expressions, but Ash made such adorable puppy dog eyes that no one with a heart could have resisted.
And Posy has a heart that could hold the whole world,I thought with a hidden smile.
"Posy, I'm sorry that I startled you," he said, and that was all it took for her to flung herself back in his arms.
"Alpha Jayden, would you please share a picture of Lark chasing butterflies?" I gave him a sweet smile with my request.
"Of course, my queen."
It came to my mind almost instantly, and I nearly died from cuteness overload at the image of a small brown wolf determinedly trying to catch an orange butterfly.
"Oh, Julian, look!" I cooed and shared it with him.
"Let me see, too, Li," Luke asked.
"Me, too," Gisela said.
I sent it to Luke, knowing he'd send it to his mate.
"Ash, you're right," Julian chuckled. "Lark is very cute."
Posy hid her cherry-red face in the crook of Ash's neck, earning a round ofawws. This time, Gisela stepped in to spare her.
"Well, sire, how do you wish to proceed?"
"I want to talk to the injured wolves first," Julian said.
