“Hook, line and fuckin’ sinker.”

“She got Saffie running from the clubhouse, then followed her.” Up to now, it had been my belief, but with no concrete evidence.

“She did. Cyn had told her everything she’d overheard that night. Once she learned of the Crazy Wolves and that Saffie was Duke’s old lady, she immediately got in touch with her FBI contact.”

“Why did he fuckin’ help her?” I spit out.

Lost smirks. “Well, I doubt she told him the truth. But I suspect when he found out his cousin had an in with not one but two outlaw MCs, he went all out to help her. Can you imagine how much credit a lowly intelligence officer would get by bringing in info that would allow the feds to shut down two infamous biker gangs?” Lost sneers as he uses law enforcement’s term for us.

“He was using her?”

“Let’s just say, I don’t think loyalty runs in that family. But yeah, he got her the Crazy Wolves details right away.”

“Did Susie know he likely wanted to bring us down?”

Lost snorts. “No fuckin’ way. She was a patch chaser, like I said. Her cousin’s plans would have worked against her.”

My brow creases. “Why the fuck did she meet back up with Duke? And how did she find him when we couldn’t?”

“You know Grit was ex-fed?” At my nod, he resumes, “Grit used to work with the second cousin.”

Now I’m confused. “But why would Grit retain contact if the fed was working to bring the Wolves down?”

Lost raises and lowers his shoulders. “Who the fuck knows? Maybe he underestimated his old work contact. Maybe he thought the Wolves were safe. But yeah, they spoke, and that’s how Susie was able to make contact.”

“Why the hell would she? The last I saw of her was when Duke was setting her up to be raped.”

Now Prez gives a lopsided grin. “She likes her sex rough. What more can I say?”

I snort. “Then I’d never have been able to satisfy her.”

“She came to that conclusion herself. She’d decided that if Saffie was out of her way, she’d have a chance with Duke. She was freed with the other women, but again, courtesy of her cousin, she was whisked away, under the protection of the feds. That’s why we never found mention of her.”

So that was then. But I want to know more of the now. “What’s happened to her?” For her to have given all that information away, she must have had encouragement.

“She raped you. Set Saffie up to go back to her abuser. She slapped Mary and was fully prepared to see her die in childbirth. What the fuck do you think happened to her?” He pauses, but not long enough for me to respond. “Swift took the lead in questioning her. Hell, her methods, Niran.” This time his head shake is in admiration. “I think even Kink might have learned a few things about how to torture a woman. Not to those extremes, of course.”

Despite myself, I give a quick grin. Growing serious, I ask, “She’s dead?”

Lost slowly raises his chin. “I put a bullet into her. Did it for you, Brother. And for Grumbler.”

Lifting my jaw, wordlessly I show my thanks.

Lost shakes himself, as if he’s closed the book on her. “Now we’ve got to discuss Cyn.”

“Do we have to?” I’d rather forget she exists, but I know we can’t ignore the part she played. But hell, how could I condone killing my sister?

Instead of answering me, Lost picks up his phone and for a few seconds, taps into it. After a moment, the door opens and Cyn comes in, Sharpshooter behind her.

“Sit.” Sharp points at a chair, luckily discreetly placed a few feet away from my own and out of reach of my fists.

Lost opens a drawer, takes out a gun, and lays it on the desk in front of him. Cyn’s eyes are drawn to it. They widen and fill with horror while my gut churns. Am I going to witness my sister’s death?

Suddenly, Prez rears up. He half-stands and looms over her. “We took you in,” he spits. “We trusted you in this clubhouse. And how did you fuckin’ repay us? By almost getting your brother and his old lady killed.”

Her eyes come to me, but I keep my features fixed. She turns to look behind her, but Sharpshooter’s standing with his arms folded over his chest.

“I didn’t know that was what Susie was planning,” she cries out. “I didn’t want to hurt Niran. I just wanted my brother.”
