The gesture floored me. Yeah, I knew he was still getting something out of it. But how did he know that I needed the control?

Slowly, I moved my body, raising up on my knees, then lowering myself. I rested my hands on his chest, my fingers digging into his muscles as I found my rhythm.

“Fuck babe, you feel so fucking good.” I generally didn’t like to talk during sex. Especially on a night like tonight. But with Ryder it turned me on more. “You’re gripping me so tight, like you never want to let me go.”

My pace increased to the point of being erratic. Ryder held my hips steady and pumped up in time with me. His name fell from my mouth. Why, I wasn’t sure. A plea maybe. “Fuck, Ry. I’m going to come.”

“Can feel it, babe. Let go now.”

And I did. My body clenched and the noises I made were almost non-human. I knew the moment he joined me over the edge. The roar that escaped him was primal.

He held me close to him. “Babe, I’m never letting you go.”

THE SMALL TOWN KILLER

It wasn’t that I despised travelling. The long days on the road were a good way to clear the mind and put things into perspective. In this case it helped me see that waiting on another opportunity to grab a victim in Marina De Ferrier could work in my favor.

For one thing, it meant I needed to change things up. I had a routine and I would need to follow it, but changing things up a little would throw the police off when they came across my pattern.

And they would notice my pattern. But the shooting earlier today meant I needed to take a victim from somewhere else. The asshole who shot two cops drew unnecessary attention to the small town. If another bad thing happened, the mainstream press would be around and be insisting on a bigger investigation. Not to mention, I needed to take some time to recover.

As it was, I wasn’t not happy that the CBI had involved Salinger Security. Those assholes didn’t let anything go until they solved whatever case they had sunk their teeth into. Still, if I felt they were getting too close, I would need to leave California and start all over in a new town. The only reason I choseCalifornia was because it was convenient. I had ties here, and that kept me sane. If people saw me around then at least I fit in.

I pulled my RV into the campground just outside Walker Lake. The town was adjacent to Marina De Ferrier and I had a target I wanted to get to. I just needed to bide my time and dump the body I already had.

Unhooking the RV had become as natural as driving. I stepped back into my car and moved it around to the front door of the RV.

Thank goodness it was dark and no one could see what I was doing. First I tied my hair back and placed the disposable shower cap over my head. Next, I reached inside the box on the portable table and pulled out two blue latex gloves. Lastly, I pulled my plastic raincoat from its suit bag and put that on as well. I stepped inside and made my way to the chest freezer right at the back. With a deep breath I opened the freezer. The smell wasn’t as pungent as it could be, but still, any corpse older than twenty-four hours was bound to smell.

I pulled the sack of meat out by the arms. With everything frozen, the two-hundred-pound man was even heavier. He hadn’t been easy to subdue and I had needed to use more drugs than usual when I took him. Asshole. The way he behaved was as if the world needed him. He thought he was making a difference. But he had one job, and he had failed at that.

Everyone knew he was a waste of space. And since society was too polite to get rid of him, I did them the favor.

By the time I had him dragged to the front door, I was already exhausted. I stepped around the waste of space, and went to unlock the trunk of my car. There wasn’t much light around. We were far enough from the city that the moon and stars provided ample light along with those in the RV.

I lifted the body, careful not to leave any residue from the markings on the back on the clean floor of my RV.

My trunk was already lined with the black bin bags which meant that all I needed was to make sure I didn’t drag too much dirt in there with me. It took me less than ten minutes to get that body in the car.

That was when I drove across to the other side of town. Walker Lake was smaller than Marina De Ferrier. In fact, it was one of the smallest towns in California. Quieter as well, but both towns had a fair share of money pretending to be ordinary people.

As soon as I reached the alley I was looking for, I pulled the car to the side and dimmed my lights.

While the streets were quiet and there was no one about, I still needed to make sure I made as little noise as possible. The last thing I needed was to get caught when I was this close to the end of this mission.

Each and every mission was important. I had only one purpose. A deal I made with the man above when I discovered who my father was. Each mission would have one purpose and one purpose only. And I would continue taking on missions until it was no longer necessary.

When I went around to the trunk of my car, I checked my surroundings once more. Not even a fucking rat lurked in the alley. What kind of place was this? I dragged the body out of the trunk. Nothing that happened between my car and the ally could be traced back to me. I bought the trash bags at different stores and not enough to attract attention. Any bruising that might happen, would be from the trunk of the car or the alley. Nothing that would identify it. And lastly. I travelled as if I worked for the CDC. None of my DNA would end up on the body.

As I pulled away from the alley, I couldn’t help but smile. The world was a better place without that man in it.

I drove the full hour back to San Diego. At the edge of town, I dumped the shower cap and gloves in the first trash can I found. Then I found a gas station and used the restroom to wash the raincoat and rain boots.

It is funny how all the items I used could easily be bought at a department store or even a well-stocked grocery store.

Once I was done, I went back to the trailer park. It was nearly sunrise when I had everything all hooked up. Instead of stopping in town for breakfast, I drove a little further east stopping at a new town. I wouldn’t be back for at least a few weeks while I waited for things to settle down in Marina De Ferrier before I went and captured the asshole there.
