Page 47 of Love Over Easy

“You did? He did! No way! That’s incredible. Please tell Milo thanks from all of us.” After hanging up, Kimberly turns to me with a smug smile on her face. “Come on, gang. Milo got us seats on the first level above ringside.”

My mouth drops open. I know how much those seats cost. Times eight. Prince Milo spent a small fortune on those seats.

“Well, let’s hurry. It’s getting close to time,” I prompt the crew to stand and shuffle back out over knees and feet and bags on the floor. Why do they put the seats so close together?

We hustle downstairs. Kimberly speaks to an usher and we’re shown to seats so close to the cage I can even see the screens of the sportscasters. The cage from this vantage point is intimidating and the woman I love is going to be locked inside with the only way out as the winner, loser, or on a stretcher. I swallow and say a silent prayer to keep her safe.

The girls are talking nonstop and the guys are annoying as well. Why did they all have to come? First, Bode’s brothers, Adan and Case, butted in when they found out I was coming today. Then Bode wanted to come, which meant Kimberly had to come. When Melissa, Suzie, and Brandy found out, they had to tag along as well. I send a glare to the entire group.

Bode and his dumbass brothers laugh. “Don’t sweat it, man. Chill out.”

I want to dump the giant beers in their hands over their heads. Smartly, I recognize what it is. My nerves are revved to the breaking point. If I had been able to see Shy before the match, I wouldn’t be so highly strung. Because of her mean ass father, she has no idea I am here to support her, not tear her down by staying away.

Now if only my plan works, and by plan I mean begging for forgiveness and groveling. I may have to keep my eyes shut through the match, but I’m here to back my girlfriend. I’m Team Shyanne “The Huntress” Lambert all the way.
