“God, you are very difficult to spring a surprise on.” She huffs, unlocking her seatbelt as the signs go off, telling us is it safe to do so.

“I want to know.”

“Take a guess.”

“New York?”

“Nope, try again.”

“Mexico?”

“Too far. Wouldn’t be back in time.”

“Alaska?”

“Try again.”

I rack my brain and randomly take a guess. “Vegas?”

“Yes.”

“What are we doing in Vegas?”

“Do you really want to know? It was supposed to be this grand surprise, and you’d be shocked and love me forever…”

“I’ll love you forever anyway.” I take hold of her hand and run my finger over the black diamond, still giddy that she accepted.

It was possibly the most haphazard proposal of all time, but she said it was perfect and that’s all that matters. Surrounded byKali’s family, it was the best Christmas. I felt part of something much bigger than me and like I finally belonged.

We’ve yet to set a date, but we have agreed this summer sometime if we can squeeze it in between the end and beginning of next season and Kali launching her new talent agency.

“You’re going to annoy me all the way there if I don’t tell you, aren’t you?”

“Yes.” She knows me so well.

She swings around in her seat slightly, as if wanting to see my reaction when she tells me. “Okay, you ready?”

“Yes.”

“We’re celebrating the New Year tonight at the Bellagio and tomorrow night we are going to see My Chemical Romance in concert.”

My mouth drops open from shock.

“It’s a one-off special reunion. I pulled some strings and arranged to meet them backstage after the gig.”

I’m too stunned to speak. Waving her hand over my face, she tries grabbing my attention. “Hello, did your brain go into meltdown?”

“Yes.”

“Are you okay?”

“Maybe.”

She sits back in her seat and grabs her phone off the table in front of us. “I’ll give you a minute for your brain to rewire.” She chuckles.

“Does this thing have a bedroom?” I ask finally.

She slaps her phone down on the table. “I thought you’d never ask.”
