When her release faded and his motions slowed, she slumped into the bed. Mitchell rolled off her, his softening erection sliding from her body. She felt the bed dip where Blake lay beside her, then straightened out again but she didn’t have the energy to see what he was doing.

“You’re amazing.” Mitchell kissed her shoulder.

“Oh, shit.” Blake swore from the other side of the room and both Mitchell and Alana turned to look at him. “We’ve got thirty minutes before we need to be at the studio.” He strode back toward the bed, completely unabashed by his nudity.

“Fuck!” Mitchell placed a hard kiss on her shoulder and slid from the bed. “We need to wake the others.” He threw the sheet up from the bottom of the bed and smiled. “You might want to cover up before I open the door.”

She reached for the material and pulled it over her breasts as she sat.

Mitchell’s sexy ass flexed with each step as he strode to the door and yanked it open. Alana didn’t know what he found on the other side, but it made him curse and slam the door shut again.

“They’re awake?” Blake asked.

“Yeah.” Mitchell gave a nod with wide eyes. “And I’m pretty sure Julie just got an eye full of my package.”

There hadn’t been time to say the proper goodbye Mitch had been hoping for this morning. After they rushed to shower and eat breakfast, Leah had dragged him and Blake out the door. He’d only had the chance to give Alana a quick peck on the lips and type her cell number into his phone before he had to hightail it.

They still planned to meet up in-between his promotional commitments. He didn’t want her going to the Bowens on her own. But not having her beside him, after the time they’d spent together, left him hollow.

“I assume you’re giving the long distance thing a try.” Blake raised his brows from the couch across from him. The five of them were seated around a small coffee table. Mason, Ryan, and Blake on a three-seater, Mitch and Sean on the other while they waited for the television host to sort her shit out on the side of the set.

Mitch worked his jaw and shook his head. “You assume wrong.” His opinion hadn’t changed from his last confrontation with Blake. Not even fantastic sex…truly fantastic sex would change his mind. Alana was starting a new life. She would need stability—something he couldn’t provide with his schedule. Not to mention how fucked up a committed relationship could get in his line of work. He didn’t want to ruin what they’d shared. Better to end it now before they turned into Ryan and Julie.

“What the hell, Mitch. It’s obvious you love the girl. Why can’t you pull your head out of your ass and give it a try?”

Mitch glared. “Mind your own business.”

His friend gave a sardonic smile. “I’m making it my business.”

“Just because you’re a nosy ass bastard doesn’t mean you can make it your business,” he growled, struggling to keep his tone down as members of the studio crew turned to see what the fuss was about.

Blake returned the glare, his dark brown eyes turning black. “And you think your fucktard, moping, bitch attitude won’t piss all of us off once we leave Richmond?” He scowled. “I can tell you now that if you break things off with Alana, I’m gonna want to high five you in the face with a hammer before we reach New York.”

“Guys, settle down.” Mason murmured from his position beside Ryan.

Mitch gave Blake the bird and backed it up with abingsound effect.

“Real mature.” Blake rolled his eyes.

“You think I want to leave her?” He pushed to his feet and Blake followed suit.

“Guys,” Mason warned.

“I think you’re being a pussy and need to man up. Try taking the hard road for once. Life wasn’t meant to be easy.”

Mitch scoffed. “Like you know anything about taking the hard road.”

Blake’s shoulders straightened, and his eyes flashed, this time not with anger but with anguish. “I know enough.” His nostrils flared. “What about Alana and what she wants? Are you just going to break her heart and forget about her?”

A lead balloon settled in Mitch’s chest and expanded with every breath. “She doesn’t know what she wants.” He stepped around the coffee table, getting in Blake’s face. “This is her first time in the real world. What she feels is infatuation, nothing more.” He’d convinced himself of the truth overnight...when he’d spent every minute lying awake, smelling the floral scent of her hair.

“She loves you, jackass,” Blake spat.

He swallowed the bile rising in his throat. No. Alana had never been in a relationship before, she wouldn’t have a clue what love was. He wasn’t sure of it himself. All he knew was that what he felt for her was the closest he’d ever come to the emotion. Evidently not close enough to want to settle down.

“Yeah, well, I’m sure she’ll feel the same about the next guy who pays her attention too.” The harsh words burned his throat, and his self-loathing tore at his insides. There were too many reasons to make a clean break and move on with his life. He didn’t want to end up like Ryan—bitter and resentful of his marital status.

“Quit it!” Leah hissed from the far side of the studio stage.
