She turns to me, her expression sharp as a blade.“Don’t call me that.”
“Why not?”I chuckle, loving the fact that I can get under her skin so easily.“It suits you.”
“I am not a princess or diva, I assure you.”
“You sure about that?”I throw back, with a grin, which pisses her off even more.I can see there’s nothing dainty or princess-like about her. This woman has balls and attitude, and Ilovethat about her.
We were sparking and combusting and getting on like wildfire, until Dex and his fiancée turned up and threw cold water over our conversation.
Things haven’t been the same since.
“You’re a Knight.”She practically spits it out, like the word physically disgusts her.
I grin.“I am.”
“And he’s your brother.”
“Half-brother, actually.”
“Still a Knight.”
“Still a Knight,” I agree.“A Knight in shining armor.”
She groans, shaking her head.
“We were having such a nice time,” I say, wanting to see her reaction.
“Were we?”She glares at me.“And then I find out you’re one ofthem.”
“What exactly do you have against me?You liked me before you knew my name.”
“I know exactly who your family is.I know what Knight Enterprises does.I’m a corporate lawyer, and I specialize in environmental law and high-profile lawsuits against unethical corporations.”
I grin.“That so?”
Her nostrils flare.“Your company always manage to wriggle out of accountability.”
I chuckle.“I haven’t done anything toyou, princesa.”
Her glare sharpens.“I told you, don’t call me princesa.”She whips out her phone and starts texting.I guess our conversation is over.
I grin wider.
I’m going to have so much fun with this one.

DANI
It makes sense for Dexter to drive me back to my hotel while Rio takes Raquel back.
I can feel the awkwardness settling between both cars, like an invisible barrier neither of us knows how to break.Everything changed in the blink of an eye.Tonight was going so well.
I almost let myself believe that Dexter and I were something more.A couple. Not that I’m in love with him or anything, or eventhatattracted to him, but I like him more than I did before we arrived.
He opened up.He was vulnerable. He shared something real with me, and I have a feeling it’s not something he does often.
We were connecting.
