The kiss we share is slow but arousing. Already, my cock is thickening again, my head spinning.
“God, I want you,” I whisper against her soft skin.
“Take me home, Xander,” she says, rotating her hips over my hard length. “I want you to blindfold me and fuck me so hard I won’t be able to walk.” Her lips hover over mine. “Can you do that for me?”
“Who am I to say no to you?” I murmur, pulling her face down and kissing her slowly. “Let’s go home.”
CHAPTER30
AUDREY
BELLA
October
A knockon the door wakes me. I instantly sit up in bed, startling Xander.
“What happened?” He yawns.
“Someone’s knocking.”
The knock sounds again, and Milo scrabbles to his feet and starts barking.
Shit. My stomach roils with nerves. Is it Jake?
God, please don’t let it be him.
We both fall silent, looking at each other, and when we hear the knock again, Xander sighs and rolls out of bed.
He puts on his sweatpants, and as he heads out of the room, he says, “It’s okay. No need to panic. I’m sure it’s not Miller.”
My gaze drops to my wrist, where the signs of Jake’s grip are evident now that the concealer I used to hide it from Xander has washed off. I’ll need to cover it up again.
Just the thought of going to the game makes me nauseous. I’ll do everything in my power to stick with my plan and break up with Jake after it, but it won’t be easy.
When Xander and I got home last night, we fell into bed, and after a round of sex we fell asleep almost immediately, he with his arm around me and me with my back pressed firmly to his chest. I didn’t have time to tell him about Jake’s visit, so I’ll have to work up the nerve today. He won’t be happy.
I pull on a pair of leggings and a loose blue T-shirt, then rush to the guest room so I can comb my hair. It’s a tangle of knots after last night’s activities, so I collect it into a loose bun.
Not wanting to greet Xander’s company looking like I just rolled out of bed, I pop my head out the door and peer down the hall. It’s empty, and Milo’s happy squeals are definitely coming from the living room. With an exhale, I dart to the bathroom and silently close the door behind me.Phew.
I wash my face, then study my reflection in the new mirror. My cheeks are tinged pink, my blue eyes clear and lively. Being around Xander is good for me.
I can’t say the same for him. All I’ve done is drag him through my shit. I apply concealer to my wrist to hide the bruising, blowing on it so it dries quickly. Then I give myself a silent pep talk.I can step out there. It’s time to face reality.
“Bella?” The bathroom door opens, and Xander pads inside, his gaze roaming over my face and down my body. “Planning another escape?”
“No,” I mutter, entranced by his captivating eyes. Just being near him heightens all my feelings. I’ve never had such powerful emotions for a person.I can’t possibly be falling for him, right?“You have a guest, so I thought… I thought I’d stay out of the way. Besides, I have work to do.”
He cocks a brow. “At seven a.m.? You don’t usually start until ten.”
“Oh. I didn’t realize it was that early,” I chuckle.
In one stride, he steps in close and pulls me against his chest, covering my mouth with his. The kiss is gentle, slow, and sweet enough to make me melt on the spot. I have no desire to leave this room, and I don’t care who’s here. All that matters is him.
Unfortunately, he’s got more of a level head. With a sigh, he backs away and palms my cheek.
“I couldn’t resist.”
