Clutching my towel around my waist I liberated a pair of underwear out of my dresser drawer and ducked into my walk-in closet to pull everything on. I shrugged into my cut, looking back one more time at her before I closed up shop and headed out the garage door, hitting the switch to open things up. I took the bike; I’d fucked off and wasted enough time while the guys cooled their heels waiting on me to help me with my problem.

“There he is,” Marlin grated as I came through the front door of The Plank. He raised a mug of coffee to his lips and sucked some down.

“About fucking time,” Hope chirped from the arm of Cutter’s throne. His hand tightened on her hip, and she chuckled.

“Sorry, house full of estrogen and a long fucking night,” I declared, dropping into my seat at the lined-up tables.

“Oh, yeah? What happened?” Lightning asked.

I recounted the tale of Mariposa coming home and how freaked out Jussy got, and the whole damn mess.

“I’m not done mopping it up, either,” I said.

“Well, some things are best sorted in the light of day,” Cutter declared.

I nodded, chiming, “Exactly.”

“First things first, though… to order.” He smacked his gavel on the arm of his chair Hope wasn’t perched on.

“What’s going on with our girl?” Pyro asked.

“I left it to you,” Atlas said, holding up his hands.

I filled them all in, including everything Atlas and I had dug up on this kid, including his high school counselor’s records where she noted her concerns about his behavior.

“Well, ain’t he sweet?” Marlin sucked his teeth.

“Sounds a step down from Ren’s ex,” Stoker said soberly.

“He’s a problem,” Cutter agreed.

“I know it’s not our usual thing to go all vigilante,” I declared.

“No, fuck this guy,” Hope declared, and she looked pissed.

“That’s my girl.” Cutter chuckled and squeezed her hip.

“What’d Mari say about it?” Lightning asked.

“Mari’s spooked,” I said, using the affectionate shortening of her name the club had gifted on her when she was little. “She told me whatever I do about him, to make it fucking stick that she’s sure he’s going to get worse or retaliate if I don’t.”

“She ain’t told you everything, bro,” Galahad said from down the table.

“I know it,” I said.

“He hurt her?” Beast growled.

“He’s scared her, that’s for damn sure,” Atlas declared.

“Hmm, young buck with a taste for older women, huh?” Hope grinned with a savage, bloodthirsty glee. “How about I handle this one?” she asked.

“What you have in mind?” I asked cautiously.

She shrugged. “Head on up there, lurk at a few of his favorite haunts, wait for him to take the bait and get pushy and serve him up,” she said.

“Oh, nowthatis guaranteed to piss him off,” Atlas said laughing.

“It’s also guaranteed to take the heat off Mari and put it on me and if he wants to push it—”
