“Do you think we could go back to the farm?” She scrunched her nose. “Or do your mother and grandfather hate me now?”

My racing heartbeat slowed. “They don’t hate you. They’ll be thrilled for us. They know I’ve been miserable without you. You really liked the farm?”

“Of course I did. It’s part of you. When we were there, it was like you clicked into place.”

“Sam.” I gathered her to me, tucking her head under my chin. “You’re the one who clicked into place in my life. When you were gone, a part of me went missing. I know it won’t be simple to figure out how to be together, but we’ll do it.”

She hugged me tight. “Nothing about us is simple. Except this: I love you, and nothing, not even a lifetime ban from campus, is going to keep us apart.”

“Not even the crappy cell service at the farm?”

“Nope. A little peace and quiet sounds perfect. As long as you’re with me.”

“Always.” I stroked her hair. “Always.”
