“But things have changed. And I’m no one’s right now…” I continue. “Although…”
“Yes?”
“I intend to stay that way,” I say quietly, still caressing his neck.
A warm grin floods his eyes.
“Okay,” he says quietly before tenderly locking me against his chest.
A soft pulse swirls between my legs as I feel him hard against my abdomen.
Leaning closer, he murmurs against my lips.
“Are you sure about this?”
“Yes. Yes, I am… I want it as much as you do.”
“You’re playing with fire,” he murmurs, smiling.
“So are you,” I say, running my thumb across his lips. “Besides, I’ve been burned before.”
He gently cups my face and gives me a delicious kiss that makes my knees soft.
“You haven’t changed, have you?” he asks, catching sight of my hard nipples as he looks down.
I slink my fingers inside his jacket and knead his chest.
“Not at all. And neither have you,” I say, curling my arm around his neck, pressing my body into his, touching the ridge of his erection.
“We should go,” he says.
We both look in James’ direction, whose eyes could nuke us.
With a flick of his chin, James motions us to the exit, and shortly after, Lex and I amble toward the door.
Lex holds the mantle for me as James swishes by us, his hands sunk in his pockets, his bowtie already inside his jacket.
* * *
RAIN
We ridein silence for the next fifteen minutes before stopping in front of a skyscraper.
Dark as night, James slips out of the car and rushes ahead of us.
By the time Lex and I enter the lobby, he’s nowhere in sight.
We walk past the concierge, where the clerk nods a soft greeting, and turn right toward the elevators.
Moments later, we reach the top floor and enter a penthouse suite.
A door slams somewhere in the back as we walk into a vast space.
“Is he okay?” I ask quietly.
“Mm-hmm.”
Calmly, Lex takes off my cloak and shows me to a large room that occupies most of the floor.
