At once, I realize what this is, and a sharp pain grows in my chest, tears pooling in my eyes.
“Why are you crying, Rain?”
I look at him for a few seconds, searching his eyes, hoping for a different answer.
He is as cold as the glass of the shower booth.
“Why do you have to break my heart?” I ask in a quiet voice, tears falling from my lashes.
His eyes dip slowly to my lips as he tenderly brushes them away with his thumb.
“I’m not.”
He leans to me and places a kiss on my cheek, barely touching my face.
“Go out there. Enjoy the beach and the sun. You’re flying to New York tomorrow morning.”
