“We need to get off the main street,” I hollered.

Marlow merged into traffic. “Got it.”

“Dex, come in?” I shouted.

“Go ahead, cousin.”

“Can you freeze the traffic cams?” I asked.

“Already on it.”

I loaded a magazine into the butt of my AR-15. “Jefferson, once we reach the middle of the block, we’ll light them up.”

“Understood, boss,” he replied, weapon at the ready.

“Glacier, what kind of vehicles are we targeting?” I inquired.

“Four Mustangs. Two black and two blue,” he responded.

“Perfect.” I smirked as I attached the suppressor to the rifle.

There was no way my team and I would fire weapons without silencers while speeding through the streets of New York on a Wednesday night. I’d chosen midweek for the proposal, hoping the streets wouldn’t be too crowded.

As we approached the middle of the block, I rolled down the left rear window, leaned out, aiming the AR-15 at the mustang riding my ass.

Jefferson had the right side of the vehicle covered, ready to fire off shots.

Marlow weaved in and out of traffic on the two-lane street. Sometimes into oncoming traffic.

The rest of my men fell back. Horns blared and the sound of pedestrians yelling filled my ears.

The Mustangs returned fire, causing tourists to dive for cover along the sidewalks.

I wanted the assholes boxed in. Not wasting time, I leaned out the window and peered through the scope. I pulled the trigger.

My heart banged in my chest at the thought of Claire. Was she safe? I had to trust that my top bodyguards would get her to safety.

As soon as Marlow turned left onto the next street, I aimed and took out two tires on one of the blue mustangs.

The driver gripped the steering wheel, struggling to maintain control as the car spun out, bringing traffic to a halt.

Sliding back into the SUV, I let out a breath. “Glacier, get your team out of there.”

“Yes, boss,” he responded.

The police presence in New York was always significant. This wasn’t the time for killing anyone; it was about stopping them so I could reach my fiancée.
