CHAPTER ELEVEN
CLAIRE
Sitting up in the middle of the bed, I ran my hands over my wild ponytail as a yawn escaped me. Vino said so many important things to me on the patio. I felt like I didn’t have time to fully comprehend what he said.
A smile hit my lips when I remembered he admitted how he thoroughly cleaned my body and put my hair in this messy ponytail. I knew at that moment he cared for me deeply. And he couldn’t resist himself last night and ate my pussy. That visual made me come as he told me what he’d done.
Vino knew exactly how to please me. No other man had fucked me the way he did. The only other man who fucked me so good with his tongue was Angelo. That was delicious.
My head rested on the headboard.Claire, Angelo was just what you needed before Vino came along.
I couldn’t believe I was considering marrying Vino in a little under sixty days. He was a mafia boss. Which meant he was very dangerous. Was I so clouded by good dick I was going to marry him?
Maybe.
Vino said he only wanted me to be his woman. He didn’t want a goomar. What if that changed years later? Because of what I’d gone through, it was hard to know if I’d give in to Vino or walk away.
Claire, you deserve to be loved by the right man.
Last night, Vino roared as if a piece of his soul had been torn away upon learning what Ivan had done to me. His body vibrated with raw, burning anger pressed against mine. If it weren’t for the war, Vino would have flown straight to Moscow to make Ivan pay.
I smiled again. Even though Vino was a mafia boss, I believed he was the right man for me. It was time to let my walls down around my heart and welcome love.
Vino was mine, and I was willing to fight a woman for him. Because there was no way I was giving up this special man.
My eyes squeezed shut. Was I no better than Polina for wanting to hurt a bitch who tried to fuck my man? I wouldn’t kill a woman because she fucked my man. It took two to tango. But if a woman went after him and he shut her down each time, then she and I would have a little chat. Vino told me he’d give me the knife to do a woman in if she came between us. Maybe we were a sick and twisted couple.
A couple.I grinned at the thought.
After changing into more of Vino’s clothes, I wandered through the house searching for him. He wasn’t around. I decided to enjoy the stunning, verdant landscape while waiting for his return. The sun warmed my back as I made my way to the garage I’d seen earlier from the patio. Inside, there were loads of off-road vehicles. If I had been dressed appropriately, I might have taken an ATV out. But I thought, why not? I grabbed the keys for red number sixteen from the hook. I hopped on, turned the key, and the ATV sprang to life. Vino’s bodyguards were probably monitoring me through surveillance cameras. It didn’t matter. They could report back to him. I deserved to feel the wind rushing through my thick hair. I raced across the lawn at full speed, feeling more alive than I had in years.
I figured I should stop before Vino’s bodyguards ordered me off the ATV for my own safety. I became curious about the medium-sized black building to my left, where two other off-road vehicles were parked out front. I brought the ATV to a halt outside the building and shut off the engine. As I neared the entrance, I heard shouting. My heart pounded in my chest. What was happening?
I stepped into the building and was immediately hit by a wave of freezing cold. Before me stretched a cavernous meat locker, its walls lined with hanging cuts of beef. My socked feet felt heavy, as if weighed down by concrete, as I stood in the large doorway. Clutching my arms around myself for warmth and solace, I saw Vino lost in a storm of rage as he repeatedly struck a man slumped in a chair with a crowbar. I held my breath as his cold, sinister eyes finally met mine.
Horror and fascination warred within me as I took in every detail: the front of his shirt was painted with streaks of crimson. The sharp scent of copper filled the air. With blood spattered across his face, he looked like a madman. Who had I fallen in love with?
All I knew was he never looked at me like he wanted to kill me.
Vino stood before me, blocking my view of the man he nearly beat to death.
“I still don’t know you,” I whispered.
My gaze moved to my sock covered feet.
He commanded I look at him. He told me he wouldn’t hurt me. A part of me just didn’t know. Despite my words, my hand came up caressing his bloody face that was still bruised from yesterday. His eyes closed for a moment. I felt like I had a super power that calmed the beast. My beast. When his blue eyes took mine, the sincerity in them told me, he wouldn’t.
Once he was done cleaning up, we jumped into one of the ATVs and headed towards the main house.
“Why did you walk to the meat locker?” he asked, glancing at me before focusing back on the road.
“I didn’t,” I replied. “I was actually walking to the garage. I had no idea what the black building was, so I got curious and drove one of the ATVs over. I didn’t expect to find you...”
“Beating the shit out of an asshole,” he cut off my words. “He burned a block of businesses in my territory,” he roared, fury etched in his handsome side profile.
Vino placed his hand on my knee and gave it a squeeze. “We can go ATV riding tomorrow if you want,” he said. He stopped near the front door and got out.
“I don’t have the right clothes for that,” I pointed out.
