Spencer hangs up without saying goodbye.
“Well, that was interesting,” Nate says with a wink. “Told you my dad would handle this. He won’t let that puck bunny destroy our reputations.”
I’m shocked my dad hasn’t called to scream at me yet. But he’s in the middle of practicing with his team and won’t disrupt the comradery for anything, not even me.
Nate shifts gears, eyes on the road. “I’m starving. Where do you want to eat?”
Only Nate could brush off a scandal of this magnitude like a speck of dust on his shirt. He’s so unaffected by public humiliation. I think Nate secretly enjoys being in the spotlight.
“I think we should go home,” I say, running my fingers up his arm, feeling the goosebumps my touch leaves behind. “I’m not in the mood to deal with people.”
Sinking into the leather seat, I stare out the window. The sky is a pale blue that looks so pretty against the backdrop of the dark water moving slowly in the bay.
“I’ll stop at Gio’s,” Nate says. “The guys probably haven’t eaten yet. I’m sure they’ll have questions for us about the book.”
He shifts gears, now focused on the road. We don’t speak as he cuts through the shitty southside of Beacon Bay, driving past dilapidated warehouses and crumbling storefronts.
Beacon Bay is a strange town.
To reach Kingston University, located on the wealthier north side, we must drive through sketchy territory. The university does its best to keep out the locals. Guards stand watch twenty-four hours a day, and even the police do daily drive-bys. Parents like mine would never allow me to attend if it wasn’t safe.
People claim a few families on the south side are involved with the Mafia. I don’t know if the rumors are true. Gossip spreads faster than a virus on campus.
Nate changes the radio station, and when he finds a rock song, he taps his fingers on the dashboard. “Love this song. Gets me so amped up. Makes me want to bend you over the hood and fuck you raw.”
I smile, my cock jerking at the thought of him pounding into me without barriers. “I’ve been dreaming about you fucking me for so long. I hope it lives up to the fantasy in my head.”
“Hey,” he says, clicking his tongue. “I’m better than any fantasy your brain can conjure.”
“Oh, yeah?” I lean over the center console and get in his face. “Prove it.”
“Don’t make me pull over this car,” he growls in that deep, sexy voice. “You don’t want that.”
I flatten my tongue on his cheek and lick his face. “Maybe I do.”
“That’s it.” Nate swerves into a factory parking lot, smoke billowing from the stacks, and slams on the brakes. “You poked the dragon, and now he’s horny and going to claim your ass.”
I love it when Nate gets all primal on me. He unclips his seatbelt and slams my back to the seat, crowding me with his big, muscular body.
“We don’t have any lube,” I say as his lips ghost mine. “I’m not taking that big dick without it.”
He presses his forehead to mine and sighs. “Fuck. I’m not used to needing lube. We’ll have to buy that shit in bulk and stash iteverywhere.”
“They sell lube in packets. We can keep some in our wallets and cars for when the mood strikes.”
Nate laughs. “God, you sound like an old lady. When the mood strikes?” He pinches my cheek. “You’re fucking cute.”
“What will our teammates say if we come home with gallons of lube when we’re not bringing girls to the house?”
“Fuck ‘em,” he says with his usual no fucks given attitude. “Who cares what anyone thinks about us? We’re adults. We can do whatever we want. And I really, really want to fuckyou.”
After years of dreaming about Nate, my wish has finally come true. I pinch the skin on my forearm to check this is real.
“I’m glad you’re coming to terms with who you are.”
Half of Nate’s body covers mine, the other half draped over the console. He’s too big to share my seat in this tiny sports car.
Eyes on me, he bites my lip. “I’ve been a good boy since we started therapy. Even I’m shocked at how well I’ve been doing without sex. But you can bet your ass my addiction will come rearing its ugly head the second I’m inside you.”
