Luna tapped my shoulder. “Is that an invitation for round two?

I could feel myself getting hard again. This woman had my body reacting like a teenage boy.

“Take me to your room, Beck. Hurry before all the blood rushes to my head.”

That’s when I realized she was still hovered over the bed. Come to think of it, my arms were starting to feel the strain of the awkward angle. “Fine.”

I walked down the hall and placed her in my bed, carefully bringing the sheets and comforter up to her neck. The woman would be well covered if I had anything to say about it.

Then I snagged a few extra pillows from the linen closet in my oversized bathroom and lined them down the center of the bed. Luna turned over, one hand under the pillow as she examined me. “What do you think you’re doing?”

I shoved one final pillow between the head pillows. “Fixing the bed.”

She lifted a brow, her face steeped in skepticism. “Is that so?”

Hands on my hips, I scanned the room to see if there was anything else I should add. Happy with the results, I headed to the bathroom where I grabbed a clean pair of athletic shorts and brushed my teeth. The day had been long and the last thing I wanted while also being the only thing I wanted to do was crawl into bed. I took my time washing my face, reapplying deodorant and making sure I flossed so thoroughly my dentist would be forced to give me a gold star.

I was stalling.

The sheets rustled. “Do you plan on joining me at all? Perhaps sometime before the sun rises?”

“Go to sleep,” I said from the confines of my bathroom, making sure to use mouthwash. You could never be too careful when it comes to dental hygiene.

Luna muttered something unintelligible. I could only imagine it carried a few expletives.

Finally, I’d run out of tactics and swayed on my feet, the long day catching up to me. “Fuck it.”

I exited the bathroom to find a mound of pillows on the ground, my hard work undone. “Luna?—”

“Beck—” she countered easily. “You’re a grown up. You can handle it.” There was nothing quite like having your own words thrown back in your face.

I scrubbed a hand down my face then slid into the California King.

Luna chuckled sleepily and patted the bed. “There’s plenty of room.”

I’d kept my body firmly along the edge of the bed, trying to take up as little space as my massive body could manage.

“I gave you a blow job. You can lay next to me like a normal human.”

I bristled at that. “And nothing else is going to happen tonight.”

Luna kept her eyes closed as she smiled. “Technically, it’s morning.”

I pulled the blankets over me, effectively tucking myself in and said, as pointedly as possible, “Good night, Marks.”

“Good night, Bennet. By the way, get your suit ready, you’re taking me to the gala.”

CHAPTER30

Luna

A waveof déjà vu washed over me as we exited the city in Beck’s Subaru.

Yes,a Subaru. Apparently, it met Beck’s rigorous safety standards for his daughter, and he wouldn’t be caught dead on the motorcycles he told me all about that night we first met. I hadn’t really clocked the make of the vehicle before because of the whole kidnapping thing, but now I found this little piece of the Bennet puzzle to be, well, puzzling.

Alice chatted the entire duration of the drive.
