“I need to work that night; we have a couple of VIPs that will need schmoozing. I am, however, available for a lunch date.” I wanted the date, but I wouldn’t compromise my work for it. Not a whim at least.

Beck pulled out his phone. I glanced at the screen, watching him scroll through his calendar. Then he called someone and asked them to move around some meetings. I sat there, watching the whole thing take place in a matter of minutes. “Done. Lunch it is. I’ll pick you up from your place at noon.”

My heart beat faster, and I hefted a shoulder. “I’ll be there.”

Then Beck leaned in. The smell of his aftershave had me squeezing my thighs together.

“See you tomorrow.” He kissed the sensitive column of my neck before departing, leaving me alone in the middle of my club feeling hot and bothered.

CHAPTER25

Beck

“I need a favor.”

“No, I won’t do another background search on Luna,” Sebastian answered.

“That’s not what I was going to ask about.”

The typing stalled. “Now I’m intrigued. So why are you calling then? You know I’m back in town and have Faith covered.”

I laughed. “I’m sure you do.”

“That’s my future wife you’re talking about,” he said, immediately going on the defensive.

“Holy shit.” He was actually admitting that this woman was his end game. I mean, I knew that already. Practically everyone who knew him understood this wasn’t some fling. Faith was Sebastian’s person.

Sebastian grumbled, dragging a hand through his hair. “Shit, I shouldn’t have said that to you.”

“Why not?”

“I should be tellingherthat, not you.”

I shook my head. “No, man. That means you care for her and are excited about it. That’s something you share with your friends.”

“I officially asked her to move in.”

“Asked? That’s a surprise. I figured you’d just move her stuff and tell her she moved in.”

He grunted.

“Holy shit, that’s exactly what you did, isn’t it?” I erupted into laughter and scrubbed a hand down my face. “How did she take that?”

“She told me she’d need a bigger closet.”

I could see that happening. “That’s it? Just wanted more space for her clothes?”

He clicked his tongue. “She also wanted to make sure that we kept a place in the city.”

Made sense to me. “I assume you want yours because it’s all tricked out.”

“How did you?—”

I laughed. “You’re predictable, man.”

“I’m going to say no to this favor request if you keep being a dick.”

I bet I could change his mind. “It's for Alice.”
