The son of a bitch goes fucking AWOL for hours and that’s the best he can give me?

My fingers tighten around the phone and it takes every ounce of self-control not to send my fist through the fucking wall.

“Yeah, I know, Ghost was kind enough to inform me,” I grind out. “You want to tell me why I had to hear it from him?”

“Things are a little hectic around here, man,” he replies.

I get that. I also get that I’ve put a lot of pressure on him, but a phone call wouldn’t have killed him.

“The coffins are good to go, the guys got it down to five minutes and the cage is loaded. I spoke with Parrish and everything is set on their end.”

All right, so he has been busy.

“What about Colt?” I press.

“I told you, we got him.”

“Yeah, that’s a little too fucking vague for me. Where’d you find him?”

And how did you find him so fucking quickly?

He pauses and those red flags Ghost raised earlier begin to flap wild and reckless.

“King, where the fuck was he?”

“Sleeping in a trailer at Fat Cat’s yard.”

That certainly makes sense. It also explains why they found him so quickly. I start to calm down, my fists uncurling as I drag in a deep breath.

“He ask you any questions about his son?”

“No, only where you were.”

“And did you tell him?”

“Didn’t need to, the man had a suspicion and my silence confirmed that suspicion. Look I know you two got a personal beef going on right now but he’s not backing down. He wants half his cut up front and the other half upon delivery.”

If I wasn’t already certain that I underestimated Colt, that would’ve done the trick. The man has balls of steel to be making demands on me and my club.

“Put him on the fucking phone.”

A moment later his voice fills my ear.

“What do you want?” Cold grinds out and my fist immediately curls again. I don’t like his brazen attitude, mainly because I’m not used to it.

“Listen here, motherfucker, and listen good,” I growl, my jaw tight. “I warned you. I sat you down when things started getting serious between you and Holly and I told you if you hurt her or my kids, I’d fucking kill you.”

Bury him alive if I had to.

“You should’ve warned me that you were still in love with her,” he spats.

If he didn’t realize I loved Holly, that’s not my fucking problem. He put blinders on, that ain’t my problem either.

“Let me clue you in on a few things, Colt. If a man tells you he won’t think twice before taking your life that’s him telling you he loves her. You chose not to see that and married her, put a baby in her too, all while thinking that would tarnish my love for her.”

I pause, dragging in another breath.

Learning Holly was having his baby almost brought me to my fucking knees. I thought for sure the fire would die once Theo was born, but I forgot how much I loved watching Holly hold a baby in her arms and seeing her with Theo only fanned the fucking flames.
