“He shouldn’t be moved for forty-eight hours,” the doctor says.

“I want to go home,” Rebel states, his teeth clenched with pain, refusing to take his pain pills until we agree to take him home.

“I’ll stay with you,” I tell him.

“We all will,” Phoenix says.

“Home,” Rebel insists, his fists clenched at his sides.

Falcon steps in. “We’re taking you home, but you stay with me until you’re healed with a nurse to take care of you.” Rebel’s about to argue when Falcon holds up his hand. “Swear to God, I’ll give you a shot of morphine and keep you here indefinitely,” he threatens.

Rebel huffs, “Fine.”

Fuck, yeah! We’re going home.

Chapter22

Damn, This Feels Good

Maya

“Coming home, baby,” Bull said when he called me over six hours ago. “You wear my tee till I get home,” he ordered before hanging up. I haven’t heard from him since. I wasn’t sure if Bull would be hungry, but I made a beef stew just in case. Really, it was to keep myself busy. After making the stew, I baked cookies, then did a load of laundry and cleaned the apartment.

I was hoping to tire myself out, but that didn’t work. I call Gertie over for a visit and feed her some of my stew.

“This is delicious, lovie. Aren’t you having some?” she asks.

“Not very hungry.”

“Not eating isn’t going to make the flight any shorter,” Gertie teases. She finishes her bowl and settles in with her cup of tea and two of my freshly baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

“Bull’s been gone for nearly a week. I miss him so much. How can I miss him this much?” I ask.

“He’s a good man. They all are,” she says. “Those men are like my very own sons.” She sounds proud.

I grin.

“Bull has his demons, Maya. His family wasn’t a family. I still can’t understand how a mother could be so selfish and a father so neglectful. Some people shouldn’t become parents,” she says, shaking her head. “I think that fate brought those men together and gave them a family.”

“I’m happy fate brought us together.” I giggle.

“Thank God for faulty locks,” she returns with a chuckle.

We chat through tea, but I can see that Gertie is growing weary. I walk her to her door and wait to hear the locks set in place before going back. I change into Bull’s T-shirt and curl into the armchair with the blanket around me, my head resting on the arm, closing my eyes. The song “Simple Man” plays in the background.

The rattle of the door has me sitting up straight. Bull stands in the doorway, taking up the entire space. I scramble from the chair and run to him. Bull braces and catches me as I jump into his arms and wrap myself around him, peppering his face with kisses.

I find his soft, full lips and plaster my mouth to his for a long, slow, tantalizing kiss that I feel down to my very core.

“Baby,” I whisper against his lips. Bull turns us around so my back is between the door and his massive body. While his mouth is ravaging mine, his hand slides to his belt, then I feel his fingers hook into the gusset of my panties and pull them aside.

“My girl’s wet for me. Thank Christ,” he murmurs, and before I have a chance to respond, he thrusts inside my pussy. I gasp and moan into his mouth, because his lips haven’t left mine. This is greedy sexy. We can’t get enough of each other. He pushes in and pulls out, and I beg him for more.

“Don’t stop! Harder, faster,” I moan as I sink my teeth into his shoulder, and he quickens his pace. The embers have turned into a raging inferno, completely out of control. My nails are etched in his skin, my words incoherent as I ride the massive wave of my orgasm. My body trembles in his arms, my pussy fluttering around his cock, but he’s still pounding hard and fast. Then, with one solid stroke, he pushes inside. I love the full feeling.

He’s breathing raggedly, and I’m breathless. His lips come to my ear. “I love you, Maya.”

“I love you too. Missed you so much.”
