I smiled and shook my head. “The women called her, actually. That new girl was back, and they cornered the poor thing.”
“Well, fuck. I told them not to do that. I’ll see if I can… uh.” Thor looked at Daisy, then back at me. “I’ll tell you later.”
Daisy cocked her head. “Is there something I need to know?”
Thor smiled and moved closer to her as the blush creeped up her neck.
“Nothing you need to hear,officer.”
I pushed my way between the two and turned to Thor.
“You, go unload the groceries and we’ll talk later.”
Leading Daisy out the door, we walked to her patrol car. She turned to me and ran her hand through her ponytail.
“I... uh.”
I laughed. “All the men of The Devil’s Highwaymen are good looking, Daisy. And they all seem to have that effect on women.”
“Well, shit.”
We both laughed as she reached into her pocket and handed me her card.
“Call me if you hear anything about that girl or if you ever need help.”
“Will do. It was nice to meet you!”
She waved as she got into the car. “You too! See you later.”
I walked back into the house and leaned on the counter as Thor put the groceries away.
“So now that the pretty officer is gone, spill it.”
He laughed as he turned to face me.
“She was pretty, huh? Anyway, I was gonna say, let me pull the videos up and send them over to Moose. We’ll see if he can run her face through his programs and try to find out who she is.”
I shook my head. “And this is all illegal?”
Thor just smiled as he turned back around, “Don’t know what you’re talking about Attorney.”
I laughed as I snagged a cookie from the jar on the counter.
“Yeah, yeah. Need anything before I head out?”
“Nope. I’m on Lily duty today so I’ll be right behind you.”
I rolled my eyes, but inside I was smiling. These men truly cared for those close to them and would do anything to keep them safe.
“Sounds good. I’m just heading to the office today.”
Thor put the last box of food in the cabinet and followed me out the door. He hopped on his motorcycle and waited until I got in my car to start it up.
Putting the car in drive, I headed toward Main Street, where my office was to get some work done for the day.
