Lily and I laughed as Olivia ran up the steps and we got into the car. I turned to Lily, and she smiled at me.
“Olivia seems nice. The most I can remember about her is when Ellie Jo attacked her. Other than that, I only see her at school. But I’m glad she’s lookin’ out for my kids. Tess is… unhinged.”
“She’s a kindergarten teacher and sweet as pie.”
I put the truck in drive as we headed toward Lily’s office.
“Well, I’m glad she’s watching the kids. The prospect is there today watching as well. I’ll have some of the other guys swing by too.”
I parked right out front of the office, and we headed inside. Lily unlocked the door and walked right in, getting to work.
Lights went on, the coffee machine came to life, and music played over the speakers. Some fast paced Spanish song came on and Lily danced around while turning everything on.
I laughed and leaned against the wall, watching her move her hips.
“You surprise me every day, Princess.”
She laughed and danced toward me, shaking her hips and singing the words.
“Oh, baby. This is the only man you’ll ever have competition against. Daddy Yankee is my biggest celebrity crush.”
I threw my head back, laughing. “Well, fuck me.”
Lily moved over to me, shaking her ass as she bent down.
I groaned as she moved away with a sultry little smile thrown over her shoulder.
“You’re playing with fire, princess. You better sit that pretty little ass down so we can get some work done. Otherwise I’m locking that door and fucking you right on top of your desk.”
She playfully gasped as she turned the music off. I walked over to her desk and plopped down in the other chair.
“I didn’t know you could speak Spanish.”
Lily sat down across from me and shrugged. “My father was from Culiacán. I grew up around him and his family, so I learned a thing or two.”
“A thing or two?”
She laughed and winked at me. “And Javier is from Sonora. So yeah. A few things.”
“Don’t bullshit me, woman.”
Lily laughed again before taking out some paperwork.
“Yeah, yeah. Let’s get to work on this security company.”
The morning flew by and we headed over to the diner for lunch. Sav was behind the counter as we walked in and smiled when she saw us.
“Hey, you two! I’ll be right with you.”
Lily and I sat at the counter as Sav brought us some water. She leaned on the counter and I couldn’t help but smile at her cheerful disposition.
“The smile looks good on you, Savvy.”
“I feel amazing. I really do. It’s been a long fucking road, Moose. But I’m finally, really truly happy.”
Lily reached out and took her hand in hers. “God, I am so fucking proud of you.”
“I couldn’t have done it without both of you.” She wiped a few tears and shook her head. “Enough of this sappy shit. Let’s get you two fed.”
