Sav grinned. “Fuck yes. Let’s take them down.”
I laughed and got up from my chair. “Perfect. I’m gonna do some research tonight and see what I can find. I still have some contacts in the bureau, and I’ll see what they know. Call you later!”
I grabbed a bag and used it to grab the coffee mug Parker was using, then moved toward the front door. Walking out, I found Wrench waiting for me by his truck.
“Figured you would need a ride home. Who was that new girl that came running out?”
I sighed as we got into the truck. “Parker. She’s the new girl who keeps showing up.”
“Hm. What’s her story.”
I shrugged as he drove toward Moose’s house.
“Not sure, actually. Right now, we think she’s part of a religious cult and possibly underage.”
“Fuck.”
I nodded, “My thoughts exactly.”
Wrench smiled at me. “You’ll figure it all out. All you ladies at that house are determined and save every woman who steps foot in Hope Hearted.”
“Thanks, Wrench. I really appreciate that.”
AfterWrenchhaddroppedme off, I got right to work, reaching out to my contacts to find out more about this cult.
Moose had cooked dinner, and the kids were getting ready for bed as I sat on the couch and searched for anything I could find.
Nova and Maddox came running down the stairs to say goodnight before heading back upstairs. Moose came down a few minutes later and closed my laptop, leaning in to kiss me.
“Come with me, princess.”
He took my hand in his and led me outside to the bench swing under all the lights. We sat down and Moose pulled me into him.
“I never got to thank you for finding us a new lawyer,”
I shrugged. “It was nothing, Moose. I would do anything for you and the kids.”
“I know, baby. And that means the world to us.”
“When is your court date?”
Moose sighed. “Next month. We’re going for one supervised visit a month in a facility so she can’t take off with them.”
I leaned up and kissed him. “That’s perfect. Hopefully she bounces soon so the kids don’t have to deal with her. Shit, sorry. That came out bad. I just hate seeing them hurt. I know she’s their mom and all that but-”
Moose cut me off by pressing his lips to mine, his tongue pushing past as his hands tangled into my hair.
“Never be sorry for looking out for my kids. I love that about you.”
I smiled and leaned on his chest. “I just care so much about you and them. It’s so crazy that this all happened so fast, but…”
“When you know ya know.”
“Exactly.”
Moose kissed the top of my head. “Tell me what’s going on with Hope Hearted.”
“Her name is Parker. Oh! I have a coffee mug she used. Can you run prints?”
