Page 59 of Moose

Ihaddroppedthekids off with Mama Crawford and brought Lily to the clubhouse. Striker was already waiting inside when we got there.

Quickly, we rushed up into my office and I showed him what I could grab from the unknown number.

“It’s not much, but this is the general area of where the call came from. Whoever called her is close by. I don’t fucking like it, Pres.”

Striker nodded as he scrubbed his face, then looked at Lily.

“How you doing with all this?”

Lily shrugged. “I’m not afraid of death if that’s what you’re asking. I’ve faced the reaper quite a few times.” She turned and looked at me. “I’m scared for Moose. For his children. I brought this monster straight to his doorsteps.”

I pulled her into me as she took a deep breath. I knew she was trying to reign in her emotions and not cry. Lily was tough as nails and kept her emotions in check around everybody, but had finally let them out around me.

Striker nodded. “You have no clue who they even are. We’re gonna protect you no matter the cost. Let’s keep this phone on and see if they call you again. If they do, I want you to keep them on as long as you can so Moose can track the call better.”

Lily looked down at the cellphone in her hand when we heard a commotion coming from downstairs. There was a woman screaming and I could hear my brothers yelling as well.

The three of us ran down the steps to see my ex, Tessa, standing by the bar. Thor and Rooster were standing in front of her with their arms crossed.

As soon as Tessa saw me, she smiled and tried to move closer to me.

“I’ve got some shit for you.”

I went to move when Lily stepped in front of me.

“Once again breaking your restraining order.” She turned to Striker. “Please call the police so we can have her removed.”

Tessa crossed her arms and glared at Lily.

“Fuck you, bitch.”

Lily just laughed. “Wonderful way to speak to somebody. I’ll have that noted in court.”

Tessa threw a manila envelope on the ground at Lily’s feet.

“Do your worst. I got myself a fancy lawyer now. I’m gonna have my kids back and you’ll never see them again.”

I saw red, but Lily stood strong.

“I highly doubt that since you can’t follow the law. You can hire the best lawyer money can buy, but that still won’t change a judge's mind on how competent you are of a parent. Any paperwork should be delivered by the sheriff directly to the opposing party’s attorney. So strike... five? Six? I really can’t keep up at this point.”

Everybody was silent until Hawk came bursting through the door. The cops were behind him, but he got right into Tessa’s face.

The cops pulled him back as he spit on her. “You’re a fucking cunt! If you were a man, I would have killed you already!”

Rooster and Thor ran over and pulled him toward the couches. I could hear more sirens and looked toward the cops.

“What’s going on?”

Hawk yelled. “She killed the fucking prospect!” I turned to see him struggling against our two brothers. “Let me fucking take her out! You fucking bitch!”

Tessa just laughed as the cops threw handcuffs on her and led her out the door. Lily was already outside as the EMT’s loaded Beckett onto a stretcher.

I ran over and grabbed his hands. “Come on, kid! Wake the fuck up!”

Lily looked at me as she hopped into the ambulance. “Get everybody here then meet me at the hospital. I’ll stay with him.”

I nodded and ran back to Striker. He was already on the phone having the families moved to the compound.
