“Made it just in time, sleepyhead. Come and eat.”
I smiled and sat down next to Nova and dug in. The kids told me all about their plans for the day, and Nova promised to color me more pictures for my office.
As soon as we were done, they ran off to watch cartoons. Moose and I got to work cleaning up the mess.
We were in the kitchen when Moose caged me against the counter. His long hair fell down on either side of us like a curtain.
“Lookin’ good this morning, princess. I could get used to this.”
“Oh, yeah?”
He laughed and leaned in to kiss me. I put my hands up and held his face as he deepened the kiss.
“Daddy!”
We both spun around to see Nova standing in the kitchen with a big smile on her face. I could feel my cheeks burning and they were no doubt red from blushing.
I mumbled under my breath as I hid my face in Moose’s back.
“Oh, shit…”
Nova was giggling as she looked at the both of us.
“Do you like Miss Lily, Daddy?”
He nodded. “I do, baby.”
The little girl shrugged. “Good. Me too.”
With that, she grabbed her glass of orange juice and walked back into the living room. We could hear her as she plopped down on the couch and turned to her brother.
“Maddox. Daddy and Miss Lily were kissing in the kitchen.”
“Kissing is gross. Girls have cooties.”
“Well, Miss Lily doesn’t. She’s a princess, Maddox.”
I looked up to see Moose staring into the room at his kids.
“I guess. Miss Lily is pretty cool. I like her.”
“Me too, Maddox. I hope Daddy keeps her.”
They went back to watching cartoons and Moose turned, caging me against the counter once again. There was a playfulness in his eyes as he gazed down at me.
“So,Miss Lily. You heard my confession. What about yours? Do you like me?”
I couldn’t help but laugh as I leaned up and softly kissed him.
“I think I just might be falling for you,Jacob.”
Moose’s smile was bigger than I had ever seen. He leaned down and kissed me again before taking my hand in his.
“Good. Cause this damn bleeding heart went and fell for you too, princess.”
He led me into the living room and plopped down on the couch, taking me with him. Moose threw his arm around me and pulled me in close.
“Sunday’s we just chill. No chores, no work. You good with that?”
