He frowned. “Lily? Our new lawyer..?”

“Yeah, Pres. Her background is coming up too clean. I just have a funny feeling about her. She even admitted last night that her past was a story for another time.”

Striker shrugged. “Do you think she’s in danger? Or bringing danger to the club?”

“I dunno. But I plan to do some more digging on her. If she won’t tell me herself, then I’ll find out on my own.”

“Could be personal shit. Maybe she just wanted to start over. Bambi trusts her.”

I sighed. “I know. I don’t think she’s out to get us or a fucking backstabber. But I need to make sure she isn’t bringing danger around my kids.”

He nodded. “I understand, Brother. I’ll have a chat with Bambi and Lilah and see what they know. Bambi seems the closest to her. Let’s just hope it’s personal shit she can deal with on her own.”

“Good call, Pres. I’m also worried about her potentially renting that cottage on the outskirts. Tess has already threatened her.”

Striker chuckled. “Then have her stay with you.”

I shook my head and laughed. “No fucking way. She made it crystal fucking clear last night I am only her client. Not even friends.”

“Ouch. But it’s probably for the best. With regards to the cottage, I think she’ll be fine. We’ll keep an eye on her. Has she even signed the papers to rent it?”

“No, but I want to be ahead of things.”

Striker pulled up the cottage on his laptop and stared at the screen.

“If she gets it, we’ll deal with it. Not a big deal. Lily is one of us now so we’ll protect her.” He looked up at me, “How are you doing with everything else?”

I leaned back in the chair. “Fuck, man. Tess is on the warpath. I have a feeling things are just gonna get worse.”

“We’ll handle it. You know the club loves the kids. Any of our brothers would lie down their life to protect them. They’re safe, Moose.”

“I really appreciate it, Pres. This shit is stressin’ me out. But anyway, enough of that. How’s Lilah and the kids?”

Striker laughed. “Fuck. Those boys drive me up the fucking wall. Scarlett is the queen of sass and Lilah is miserable for being pregnant again. I think this is the last one for her.”

“Nah, I see one more in your future. You can’t stay off your Old Lady.”

We both laughed.

“Have you seen my Little Lark? Damn… But I hate seeing her so miserable. We’ll see where we are after this baby.” He tapped his hand on the desk, then looked at me. “Do some more digging on Lily. Let’s dot our i’s and cross our t’s with her. If you have a feeling, then chase it.”

“Will do, Pres.”

I stood and headed toward my office. I wasn’t an officer, but because I did all the tech shit, Striker set me up nicely. Unlocking the door, I headed in.

Four computers sat on the large desk, with more screens above on the wall. I sat down in my chair and plugged Lily’s name into my search engine.

Nothing was coming up, so I searched for the law firm she had worked for. Looking into their records, I saw her file for a name change.

Curious, I pulled it up and found she had her last name changed. Lily Banks was previously known as Lillith Navarro.

Plugging that name in, my screen was flooded with police records. Seems our princess was a bad girl once upon a time…

My uptight little lawyer had spent a few months in a juvenile detention center, multiple run-ins with the law, and was all around a troubled kid. She even had ties to a gang...

Her records went until her eighteenth birthday, and then things changed. She had less and less run-ins until everything disappeared at twenty-one. Looking at the records, that’s when she changed her name to Lily Banks.

Rereading the records, I found that her ex-boyfriend was in the notorious Mexican street gang,Chicos del Lado Sur, The Southside Boys. There was also an article about her kidnapping. Her boyfriend at the time had put word out but nothing ever came of it.
