I heard the shuffling of the phone and one of the club’s dancers, Luna, came on.
“I’m telling you, Moose. Just let me at her one time and our problem will be solved. I’ll fuck her up, no problem.”
I laughed as I heard Savannah grabbing the phone and then the women giggling together.
“Sorry, Moose. Ignore the crazy I somehow call my best friend. I’ll pick the kids up after school and grab some ice cream.”
I smiled. “Thanks, Sav. See you soon.”
I hung up and turned to my kids.
“Alright, kiddos. Let’s try this again. You guys get in the truck and let me talk to the cops, then we can head to school.”
Maddox shuffled his feet and then looked up at me.
“Who is that lady, Dad? Why is she yelling at you?”
I sighed and kneeled down in front of my kids.
“I promise we’ll talk about it soon, okay? I just want to be home and without any distractions or time constraints when we have this talk. You guys okay?”
They both nodded, and I stood, then kissed them on the top of their heads. We all walked out, and they headed right to the truck. I turned and headed over to the police officer, who was waiting for me.
“Officer.”
“Moose.”
I ran my hand through my hair and sighed.
“Do whatever you need to do to her. I want to press whatever charges I can. I’m fucking done.”
He nodded and smiled as his partner came over.
“We can do that. Send that hot lawyer of yours over and we can have all the paperwork handled.”
They laughed together, and I saw red. Just as I was about to make a huge mistake by stepping up to two police officers, the Prospect stepped between us.
“Yo, man. Don’t fucking disrespect Lily like that. She’s a professional woman, not some slut you picked up from the bar. If you guys have nothing else to talk about with us, you can leave.”
They glared at the Prospect before walking back to their patrol car and leaving. I turned to the Prospect and patted him on the back.
“Thanks, Brother. I can’t fucking stand those pricks.”
“Me either. And I can’t stand how they talk about women. After getting close to Sav I have a new outlook on the ladies we protect.”
I smiled, and we headed back to my truck.
“Good to see you growing, man.”
He just shrugged. “I’m not a fucking kid anymore, ya know? I’ve been a prospect for too long cause I couldn’t get my shit together. So I’m changing my ways and looking up to you guys.”
“Keep this up and Striker will notice. Proud of you, kid.”
The Prospect had a huge grin on his face when I turned to look at him.
“Thank you, Moose. That means more than you know.”
I patted him on the back again and opened the door of my truck as he walked back toward the gate. Starting it up, I drove out and toward the school.
