“Does Nova want that too?”
“Yeah, Dad. We both do. We love Lily.”
I leaned back on the couch and smiled.
“Then you gotta sit and talk with Lily. Maybe after everybody leaves?”
He nodded and smiled. “I can do that. Nova and I wanted to make a dinner for her when we are ready to ask.”
Javier patted his back. “Little homie, you’re gonna do just fine with the ladies. Dad raised you right.”
I laughed and shook my head. “It’s all of us men who surround him. Just want the best for our kiddos.”
We turned back to the game as the women went on in the kitchen. The doorbell rang, and I looked down to see another woman standing at the door on my phone screen.
I went to get it when Lily came running out of the kitchen.
“I got it, babe!”
I snagged her by the waist and twirled her around against the wall. Leaning in, I ran my hands up her loose sweater while I leaned down to kiss along her neck.
Lily giggled breathlessly as the person on the other side of the door knocked again.
“Moose! I need to get the door!”
I kissed along her jawline as I moved my hands up her sweater to fondle her breasts.
“Just one more minute, princess.”
The person knocked harder as Lily playfully pushed me away, blush creeping along her cheeks as she adjusted herself.
Lily opened the door and a brunette woman in a black leather skirt to her knees and white low cut top came walking in.
“Delphina!”
The women hugged and rushed into the kitchen together. Javier peaked around the corner and turned white. I eyed him and nodded to head outside with me.
We walked toward the large tree and stood, watching the gaggle of women in my kitchen.
“So what’s with her?”
Javier just shook his head. “Delphina... where do I even fucking start? Other than my Ma and Lily, she’s the only other woman who fucking scares the shit out of me.”
I crooked my head and looked at him. “Why?”
“She is... was... who the fuck knows. Anyway, ruthless fucking princess of a drug cartel. Like, I watched her behead a man because he was short twenty fucking dollars.”
I scratched my beard. “Interesting. And now she’s a wedding planner?”
Javier shrugged. “Fuck knows, man. Her and Lily used to be tight before they went separate ways.”
“But Lily trusts her?”
“Yup.”
I sighed as we walked back into the house.
“Then that’s all that matters. If she’s trying to escape her past life like Lily was, then she deserves that chance.”
