Tessa had quite the rap sheet herself, as well as no fixed address. She was unstable for two children and that was my biggest fighting point. I knew Moose wouldn’t be happy, but we needed to offer some type of an olive branch like supervised visits first to prove she wasn’t capable of being a parent.
I sighed and took a sip of my wine. I needed to call Moose and let him know what happened today.
I searched through my phone for his number and hit call. After a few rings, he finally answered.
“Hello.”
His voice was gruff as I took another sip of wine.
“Hi. Uh, this is Lily.”
“I know. What do you want?”
Putting my wineglass down, I grabbed my notebook in case he had anything to add.
“Tessa showed up at my office today. She asked me to represent her and when I declined, she got very upset and asked if we were sleeping together.”
Moose burst into laughter on the other end.
“Oh god that’s a good one! Can you imagine? Fuck, thanks for the laugh.”
I huffed and grabbed the entire bottle of wine, skipping the glass.
“Fuck you, Moose.”
“Cool your jets, babe. Is that all you were calling me for?”
I sighed. “No. I want you to go to the courthouse and get an emergency restraining order against her. This will help our case. She’s shown up at your place of work and is now threatening your lawyer.”
“Did she hurt you?”
Moose’s demeanor had changed, and I was now talking to the alpha motorcycle man.
“No. Just said watch your back, bitch. It’s not the first, and certainly won’t be the last time I’ve been threatened.”
“Well, I fucking dare her to show up again. Luna is itching to fight her anyway…”
I shook my head. “No fighting. Let her show up, then call the police. If you can, have everything recorded from your security systems so we can hand it over to the police. I want everybody to be calm and not interact with her.”
“We already record everything. I’ve set up all the security at each home and all our businesses.”
“Good. Then let’s get the ball rolling. Tomorrow morning, get that restraining order in place. We’re going to keep your kids safe and prove she’s an unfit parent.”
I heard Moose sigh on the other end.
“Alright. Uhm.. thanks, Lily. I appreciate it.”
“Just doing my job. Have a good night, Moose.”
I hung up and tossed my phone on the bed, leaning back on the pillow. Pulling my laptop up and grabbing the bottle of wine, I continued my online shopping.
I once again was alone. While I should have joined the other women for girl’s night, I stayed in.
Instead of going out and meeting new people, I stayed in and bought more shoes than I could need.
Just like always, I stuck to myself and tried to dull the loneliness with wine and shopping. But alas, that was my life. Forever destined to be alone, and I was okay with that. That left less room for heartbreak and more room to hide my dark past…
