“I’m not here to debate. Here is a list of other attorneys who you can call.”

She glared at me from across my desk.

“Are you sleeping with him? Are you his new girlfriend? Do my kids call you mom?”

I could see Tessa was getting worked up, so I slowly grabbed my phone in case I needed to call for help.

“Miss White. I’m going to have to ask you to please leave my office. My relationship with my client is strictly professional and I will not have you call my ethics into question because you are upset.”

Tessa stomped her foot once again before pointing at me.

“I won’t let that monster keep my kids from me. You better watch your back, bitch.”

She turned on her heel and stormed out of my office. Sitting back down in my chair, I sighed and let my head slam onto my desk.

“Fuck the universe today.”

Sitting back up, I gathered my things into my bag and shut my computer off. I made sure I shut all the lights off and to set the security system before locking up.

After Tessa, I was done for the day. I walked to my car and looked around to make sure nobody was around it. You never knew after Tessa’s hissy fit.

Climbing in, I started it up and drove off toward home... or should I say, hotel. Yeah, the same hotel that I was only supposed to stay in for a bit had become my home because I was too busy to find an actual apartment.

Maybe I would search tonight…

I shook my head, “Don’t be ridiculous, Lily. You’re gonna get back, put on pj’s, drink more wine than you should, and online shop.”

That was the damn truth, and there was no point in denying it.

Iwasbrowsingfornew shoes in my comfy sweatpants and a nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon when my phone rang.

I looked down to see Savannah's names flashing across my screen. Grabbing the phone, I slid my finger across to answer.

“Hey, Sav. What’s up?”

There was a bunch of giggling on the other end of the line.

“Come over! We’re having a girls’ night!”

I shook my head as I added another pair of shoes to my cart.

“Can’t tonight. I’m looking for an apartment and working on Moose’s case. Tessa showed up at the office today.”

“Ew. Did she hurt you?! Also let me see what the club has for places to rent.”

Laughing, I grabbed the bottle of wine and poured more while holding the phone against my shoulder.

“Na. I’m fine. Her empty threats don’t bother me. Anyway, maybe next time I’ll join you guys. Make good choices, Savannah.”

She laughed on the other end. “Yes, mom.”

Hanging up, I dropped my phone on the bed and added a cute dress into my cart. I checked out and turned to Moose’s file next to me.

It should be an open-and-closed case, but I had a feeling Tessa was up to something. She didn’t seem to have any type of motherly instinct and was just causing more drama rather than working with Moose.

She had left and asked him not to contact her ever again. Despite all of that, Moose still tried to get her to sign over her rights all these years. Tessa refused to sign any paperwork, which should be a guarantee to have her rights relinquished.

But her being here complicated things. She could argue about Moose’s involvement with the club and his few run-ins with the law, and the court would probably side with her. Lucky for Moose, he had me and I would fight tooth and nail to keep the kids away from her.
