She nodded and ran to the kitchen. I turned to Savannah, so she was facing me and gently took her face in my hands, bringing her eyes up to meet mine.
“Look at me, Sav. This is good news, baby. Now we have a court order for them to stay away from you. That’s more ammo for us when we go to court.”
Sav looked up at me with tears in her eyes. “He’s gonna be so mad. So mad, Hawk. What do I do when he comes after me? When he comes after you? Or Bambi? Fuck...”
I leaned down and kissed her. “He’s not going to come after you. And if he dares to try, you have me and all The Devil’s Highwaymen at your back. You know the Old Ladies don’t back down from a fight, and I bet Luna is a feisty one, too. We’re all gonna be fine in every way possible.”
Savannah laughed as a few more tears fell. “Yeah, I heard about Bambi and Ellie Jo’s fight last year.”
“So you see? You have this amazing family behind you that will protect you at all costs. Everything is gonna be okay.”
Lily sat down with the glass of water across from us. “And if he comes near you while I’m around, lord have mercy on that dumbass. But we call the cops first. Paper trail of him breaking a court order because they can’t ignore that. If he makes the first move, then it’s no holds. Got it?”
We both nodded in agreement. I looked up at the clock and cursed under my breath.
“Shit, I gotta go. See you tonight, okay?”
I took Savannah’s face in my hands again and leaned down. I deepened our kiss and slipped my tongue past her lips.
Savannah shivered as she moved in closer to me. I pulled back and smiled down at her.
“See you tonight.”
Sav just grinned while Lily whistled.
“Well, holy fucking shit. Where can I find a hunk to kiss me like that? BOB just ain’t cutting it lately.”
Savannah and I laughed as I got up from the couch. I turned to Lily and shook my head.
“Plenty of us around this town. Hang around and you’ll find somebody. Striker, Mav, and Goose are taken. And me? I’ve got my eye on this pretty little thing, so don’t get any ideas.”
I leaned down to kiss Savannah one more time before heading out the door. I could hear the women laugh and start chatting as I closed the front door behind me.
Hopping on my motorcycle, I headed down the driveway and toward the Clubhouse for Church.
IwalkedintoChurchand sat down with a big smile on my face. I was gonna wine and fucking dine that beautiful woman tonight, and I couldn’t wait. Striker came in and sat down, starting our meeting.
“Let’s start with Tank. How’s everything lookin?”
Tank nodded and took out his notebook.
“Everything looks good, Pres. We’re bringing more money in with the legit businesses. Others... are doing well... but not as good as they used to.”
Striker frowned. “What isn’t doing good?”
“The farm. We aren’t moving as much product through it anymore. Maybe we should ease back.”
I nodded and raised my hand. “I agree. And with Lloyd after us we need to watch our every move.”
Striker rubbed his face. “Fuck. What’s going on with that shit?”
I sighed and looked around. “She was protecting all of us. He threatened each and everyone of us if she left. But now that she did... well, the shit storm is coming.”
Mav laughed. “Fuck him and his daddy. They’ve always been assholes. Let them come after us. We sealed everything tight and if he lays a finger on my Old Lady or babies, then I’ll put him six feet fucking under.”
Goose cheered. “Fuck yeah, Brother! Let’s fucking riot!”
Striker banged the gavel to get everybody’s attention.
