I shook my head. “Burn it all.”

Hawk nodded as he grabbed the bag and headed into the bathroom. Bambi stayed with me until Lilah and the EMTs showed up. They carefully walked me down the hall and into the waiting ambulance outside.

Hawk stayed with me the entire time. When we were done with the medical center, he drove me to Hope Hearted in a big black truck.

Bambi had my previous room all ready for me, along with some new clothes hanging in the closet and a new set of pajamas on the bed.

Hawk and I were silent as he helped me change and get into bed. For a big bad ass motorcycle guy, he was being so gentle with me.

My protector, despite everything...

As I laid down and the pain meds kicked in, my eyelids felt heavy and I let them close.

I could never go back to that house again and faced the emptiness of my life and the consequences of Lloyd coming after my friends.

Chapter Four

Hawk

Isatatthedining room table with my fists closed, jaw tight, and anger deep in my soul. I was going to find Lloyd and Eckhart and kill them.

Bambi sat across from me while Savannah was sleeping upstairs after Lloyd beat the shit out of her... again.

“Keep an eye on Savannah. I’ll be back.”

I went to get up when Bambi grabbed my arm. “Don’t go. I know what you plan to do, but it’s not worth it right now. We’ll get Lloyd and Eckhart, I promise. Savannah is going to need you by her side.”

I shook my head and sat back down. Bambi got up and brought cookies over to the table. She smiled as she started to eat them.

“Try some. New recipe that Savannah came up with. She gave it to me the other day.”

I grumbled as I took a cookie and shoved it in my mouth. It was fucking delicious, just like everything else Savannah made.

Bambi sighed, and I looked up at her. “Just say it already, woman.”

She laughed, “Fine. I know how bad you want to kill Lloyd. But trust me when I say we will get him. I’ve got a new lawyer coming tomorrow to talk to Sav. We’re gonna nail that fucker legally this time.”

“That’s never worked before, Bambi.”

“I know. But this lawyer is a fucking shark. She’ll get him. Plus, Sav needs you here, Hawk. You need to stick around for her. I know you like her.”

I leaned back in the chair and chomped down on another cookie. “But how do I even fucking do that? When have you ever seen me in a relationship or just friends with a woman?”

Bambi shrugged her shoulders. “Your friends with me and Lilah and Willow.”

“You’ve got your men..”

“Hawk... Just work on friendship first with Savannah. That’s what she needs right now.”

I sighed, “You sound like Thor. He told me the same fucking thing. I think you women are making all of us soft.”

Bambi laughed again as she stretched and reached for another cookie.

“He’s smart. Listen to him.”

Bambi went to get up when she slammed back down in her seat and grabbed her stomach. I jumped up and rushed over to her.

“What’s wrong? Contractions?”
