“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of Savannah Brooks versus Eckhart Wiedermann. Are both sides present?”
Lily and Eckhart’s lawyer both stood and nodded.
“Eckhart Widermann, please rise to hear the charges.”
He rose alongside his lawyer and turned to glare at Savannah before looking back at the judge.
“Eckhart Widermann, you are charged with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, and breaking and entering of Missus Savannah Brooks. How do you plead?”
Eckhart’s lawyer shuffled his papers before looking at the judge. “My client pleads not guilty, Your Honor.”
“Thank you.”
Lily rose and went through the motions of what happened that night. She highlighted the multiple attacks Eckhart had made on Savannah before and talked about her abusive relationship with Lloyd.
Eckhart’s lawyer tried to push how he was a model citizen and how many people would back his character. The judge looked around the courtroom before speaking.
“Missus Brooks, are you able to take the stand?”
Sav nodded and made her way up. She slowly sat in the chair and looked up at the judge. He nodded and Eckhart’s lawyer came walking up with a slimy look on his face.
“Missus Brooks, why didn’t you call the police that night?”
“I panicked.”
The lawyer looked back at me, then toward Sav again.
“So you called your thug boyfriend who had previous run-ins with Lloyd?”
She shrugged. “Yeah. But I’m not on trial here for that.”
The judge banged his gavel and pointed at the lawyer.
“Get on with your questions.”
“Yes, your Honor.” He looked back at Sav. “You had previous run-ins with my client as well, yet nobody called the police. How do we know this isn’t a plot to ruin him? We all know you and his son were in a toxic relationship and your current boyfriend and his...club... have been after him for a while.”
Lily stood. “Your honor!”
The judge banged his gavel again.
“Enough, counselor.”
Savannah glared at Eckhart, and I could tell she was getting upset. Lily could see this too and was shuffling through her paperwork when Eckhart stood up.
“Everybody knows she’s a liar! She barely graduated from high school and used my son!”
The judge banged his gavel. “Order in the courtroom! Sit down, Mister Widermann!”
He pointed and shook his finger at Savannah. “She murdered my son! Savannah Brooks is a dead woman and I won’t stop at anything until I see her buried in the ground!”
Lily rushed over and grabbed Sav, bringing her back to the table as Eckhart jumped up. The bailiff jumped into action and tackled him to the ground as his lawyer freaked out.
The judge stood and watched as more cops came running over to arrest Eckhart and drag him away.
Sav just stood there in shock as the judge banged his gavel even more.
“Order in my courtroom!”
