“Thank you. I really appreciate it.”

I grabbed my apron and went back out to start my shift. As I was taking my first order, another delivery of flowers came. I had the kid set them out back and sighed.

Hawk really wasn’t going to stop…

The little old lady at the table smiled up at me. “He must really like you.”

I shook my head. “Yeah.”

“Why do you say it so sad?”

I fiddled with my pen before looking at her. “He hid some things from me and I’m just not sure how to move past it.”

“Hm. I think you need to get a good night’s sleep, then call him up in the morning. How long has he been sending you flowers?”

I laughed. “A week.”

“Good lord, sweetheart! Call that man.”

“I think I will.”

Smiling, I put her order in and walked around, making sure my other tables were all set. I walked back to the office and grabbed the bouquet and brought it out to the old woman.

“Here. I really appreciate your advice. Breakfast is on me too.”

“You’re a doll. Just promise you’ll call him tomorrow.”

I smiled and nodded. “I will. I really will.”

Gracie showed up, and we worked throughout the whole day. Moose had me take occasional breaks, but never let me out of his sight.

Thedayfinallycameto an end, and we closed up the diner. Moose and I walked Gracie to her car and waited until she was out of the parking lot to walk back to my apartment.

Beckett was already waiting on my stairs for us.

“Everything is clear. More cameras up and I’ve been watching all day. Set up some rounds with the other brothers as well.”

Moose patted the young kid on the back. “Good job, kid. I appreciate it. Why don’t you go get some rest.”

Beckett nodded and gave me a quick hug before leaving. Moose and I walked up and into my apartment.

“Wanna show me the pictures?”

I nodded and grabbed one of the many envelopes from one of the kitchen drawers.

“Beckett pointed out one of them was photoshopped today. It was Hawk’s head on Goose’s body.”

Moose growled. “I don’t like that somebody is in our fucking business like this.”

He spread the pictures out and then took his phone out. Moose slowly took pictures of each one, then grabbed my laptop.

“What... are you doing?”

“Checking the pictures.”

I nodded and went to my room to change. Moose seemed in the zone and I didn’t want to interrupt him. Throwing some old shorts and shirt on, I walked back out and made some tea for the both of us.

Moose finally looked up with a huge grin on his face.
