Page 89 of Hawk

I couldn’t stop crying as I got ready for work. Giving up, I threw my mascara across the room.

“Fuck this! Fuck Hawk!”

I threw my white chucks on, grabbed my purse and keys, and headed out the door. I still had to work despite not being able to stop crying.

Sighing, I walked down Main Street and avoided all eye contact with people. I wasn’t in the mood to chat or be on the receiving end of the dirty looks.

I got to the diner and walked through the front door. Gracie looked up and I just put my hand up as I walked into the office.

I threw my purse on the desk and grabbed a white apron, tying it around me. Walking back out, Gracie was waiting in the hallway for me.

“No. I’m not talking about it. Don’t bring it up, don’t say shit. Just leave me alone for the day, please.”

She nodded as I moved past her. I grabbed a notebook and got to work. I needed a distraction to get Hawk out of my head. If I stay busy, I’m bound to not think about him.

An hour went by and my theory was so fucking wrong. All I could think about was him. Everything about him; those piercing blue eyes, the way he said my name, how right his hands felt on me.

I cursed under my breath as I made my way back up front. The bell above the door chimed, and I looked up to see Luna and Lily coming through.

Ducking my head, I tried to avoid them, but Luna had already made me.

“Get over here, babe.”

Sighing, I trudged to the booth they had just sat in.

“Everything is on me today. I’m really fucking sorry for the way I acted. It was wrong and I shouldn’t push my only friends away.”

Luna laughed and grabbed my hand. “Listen, bitch. You’re stuck with me whether you like it or not. A little hissy fit can’t run me away.”

Lily shook her head and smiled. “Not the first time a client has thrown something at me. Just don’t do it again or I’ll have to kick your ass.”

I laughed as I looked at my new friends. I was so lucky to have them and I totally took it for granted.

Luna looked up at me. “How are you doing, though? Like really?”

“Fucking horrible. I can’t stop crying. I miss him so much, but I just can’t get over what happened. He really hurt me.”

She nodded. “I know. I hit him... a few times.”

I burst out laughing. “You hit Hawk?”

Luna just shrugged. “Hoes before bros, sister.”

Lily just shook her head in amusement. I turned to her with a pleading look.

“Will Hawk and Lloyd’s case affect mine at all?”

“Nope. Lloyd abused you for many years prior to this incident. We have a foolproof case and I’m working on getting Hawk’s dropped as well. But, I need you to call the police anytime you see Lloyd near you or he bothers you. We need that paper trail of him breaking the restraining order.”

I nodded. “Okay. I can do that.”

“Good. Police only. No bikers. Do this the legal way, Savannah. Now, I need to oversee the work being done in my new office. I’ll check in later, okay?”

“Alright. I’ll call you with any incidents... after I call the police.”

Lily got up and walked out the door. Turning back to Luna, I sat in the booth with her.

“How the fuck did things change this fast, Sav?”
