“Fucking vacation. But Bambi trusts Lily, so we’re gonna try her. Trust me, Wyatt, okay?”

“Fine. Fucking fine. Just keep an eye on Sav for me, Pres. She was a fucking mess when they took me. I’ve got so much making up to do. I didn’t tell her my past…”

There was silence on the other end.

“Hawk... this isn’t good.”

“I fucking know! Lloyd is onto something. Just... don’t let her out of the club’s sight. I need you to look out for her.”

The officer banged on the cell door. “Wrap it up, Sullivan.”

“Listen, Hawk. We got your back. Sit tight and don’t say a fucking word. Lily is on her way and we’ll take care of your woman.”

“Thanks, man. I fucking appreciate it.”

I hung up the phone and laid my head back on the cinderblock wall. How could things go from so fucking great to me sitting in a cell and my woman out by herself?

Myeyeswereclosedwhen Lily came down to my cell. I sat up when I heard her heels clicking on the floor.

Jumping up, I stood at the bars. She had a file in her hand as she got closer to me.

“Hawk. I know I told Bambi I wanted more work, but this isn’t what I had in mind. I left a glass of Pinot Noir andTwenty-Seven Dressesready on my DVD player.”

“I’m sorry?”

She glared at me.

“Fucking right you are. Now let’s get down to it. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get you out tonight. The attempted murder charges are pretty rough but tack on the drug offenses and you’ve got the recipe for a bad fucking time.”

“Wow. You’re fucking pleasant.”

Lily pointed her finger at me and glared.

“You’re the one who beat the shit out of that asshole instead of letting me handle him the legal way. Now we’re in this mess. So shut your mouth and let me do my fucking job. Are we clear?”

I nodded my head and let a grin slip out. “No wonder Bambi likes you. You don’t take any shit.”

“Nope. Now, let’s talk about your past. Striker already filled me in. So now we need to prove to the judge and the rest of the world that one mistake shouldn’t mark your future.”

I sighed, “I know. But it never works. Just figure it out and tell me what to do. Can you see Sav? Can you keep an eye on her?”

Lily nodded. “I can do that. Moose is with her right now. But you need to tell her about your past. I’m guessing she doesn’t know and is clueless that you saw her ex?”

“Yup.”

“Well, fuck. Okay, I’m gonna try to get a bail set so we can get you out and you can tell her yourself.”

I leaned my head on the cell bars.

“Thank you, Lily. I really appreciate it.”

She tapped on the bars. “Keep your head up, Hawk. We’ll get you out soon.”

Lily walked out, and I moved over to the hard bed and laid down. Hopefully she could get me out by the morning and my woman would be okay overnight…
