She winked and walked over to take the baking pies out of the oven.

“Nah, that should do me good for tonight. Who knew baking could be such a turn on. Damn you kids!”

Sav popped out from behind me. “Luna!”

She just laughed as Savannah picked up our mess.

“I was actually coming to find you, babe. Need you at the apartment for a few things. Hawk can even come.”

She winked at me again and walked out. Savannah just shook her head as she packed away the dough we never got around to making into the crust.

I took Sav’s hand in mine and led her out to my bike. Helping her put the helmet on, I hopped on as she climbed behind me.

We followed Luna in her muscle car toward downtown. I parked outside the old bakery and helped Savannah off.

I knew what Luna was up to and wanted to give her space to set it all up. Holding Savannah’s hand, I led her out back toward the wrought iron stairs.

“Who did all of this? It’s so cute!”

She pointed to all the potted plants and a small garden table set.

“Looks great, huh? Luna has a touch for this shit, babe.”

I let her walk in front of me up the stairs. We got to the door, and she slowly opened it. Luna was waiting in the middle of the front hallway with a grin on her face.

“Let’s go, babe.”

Savannah looked back at me with a confused look. I just smiled and let Luna lead us into the living room.

“What’s going on? Where did all this furniture and decor come from?”

Luna laughed. “It’s yours, Sav.”

She turned to me, and I smiled down at her. “This is your new home, baby. Luna and all of us helped furnish this. Luna moved your clothes this morning when you were downstairs. And pretty sure she bought you some new ones too.”

Savannah slowly walked around, touching all the pictures and furniture.

“Those are the plants I like. And where did you get these pictures of my mama?”

Luna pointed to me, and I just shrugged. “I found them when we cleared out your stuff at Lloyd’s. There was a box, and I found them all.”

Luna smiled, “I’ll let you guys have some privacy.”

I sat on the new off-white couch and patted the seat next to me. Savannah slowly walked toward me and sat down.

“Out of everything here, those mean the most to me. Lloyd told me they were gone…”

She held one of the small framed pictures in her hands, clasping it close to her heart.

“I know, baby. Moose fixed a few that were ripped. He helped me find frames for them all.” I took her hands in mine and softly kissed them. “We need to talk though, Savannah.”

She frowned and pulled away. “About what? Us?”

I shook my head. “No! No. Uh... listen. I caught Lloyd and Eckhart driving by Hope Hearted earlier today. We had Church and everybody is going to be driving by there and the diner. Patrols will increase and I would really like it if one of us was with you all the time.”

Savannah just sat there and frowned. “So like a babysitter?”

“No, baby. Like a bodyguard. You’ll always have at least two brothers near you at all times.”
